How many fighters with only 18 pro fights behind them do you see beating yesterday's Wlad? I don't see many.

GREAT analysis. ATGs from Tyson onward are still q question mark. Too much of a size advantage combined with enough other great qualities for the earlier atgs.

This obsession with justifying past greats through h2h is a forum poster fallacy. As the Rings top 20 ATG analysis showed, most of the boxing historians and experts recognize greatness can't be measured h2h, the old timers would get left behind. It comes mainly from legacy and impact. AJs gotten a great start in that regard, but still has a long way to go.

Wlad in his 19th fight in all likelihood doesn't see the 6th round, though.

I'm not so sure of that Wlad was the goods but his team did take a much more cautious approach when building him. AJ has the deeper resume after 19 fights I'll say that. But Wlad was so fast and good I'm not convinced he couldn't beat Joshua.

You really cannot compare someone against former greats or judge their career effectively until their career has been completed, and they have been retired for 10 years plus.

The sweet spot for fighters to be the most highly rated is 20 years after retirement.

He's clearly a more complete fighter than Wlad was then, so I'd go with Joshua.

Wlad was more athletic much faster, so I think it's splitting hairs. I just hope Joshua can be as good as Wlad as champion it will be good for the sport.

I've gained more respect for Wlad last night than I did for his reign as champion

    Why?
I thought my prediction was pretty close imo! He went for the finish in the 5th and al lay closed it, and it seemed to be his intention.

Yes, your prediction was quite close but also well off the mark. If the fight hand ended in the 5th you'd be correct.
Similarly if Wlad had finished the fight in the 6th, which seemed even more "certain" for a couple of minutes at least, I'd have been correct.
We were both within a punch or two or being correct.
Yours was a better prediction ultimately because you got the winner right.

By all means make a prediction on a rematch I was just saying even an excellent guess/analysis can end up falling well short when fighters put together such unpredictable roller coaster type thrillers as we saw last night.

I think we both agree logic tells us Joshua has the momentum and clear advantage if they ever fight a rematch. I wouldn't pick Wlad and would favour Joshua to get it done sooner ..... but what do I know?

So a 41 year old who stunk the joint out for a decade is now a measuring stick ? That shows how poor the Heavyweight division has become.

WK's losses are the only semi exiciting fights he was in.

Id have to say no. Joshua looked very flawed last night. He is very very flat footed but has great judge of distance to help counter that. His jab is average at best, prime tyson would easily feint inside it and work AJ pretty bad.

I think Joshua lacks the mobility to really hang with the ATGs of heavyweight boxing and a younger prime ATG would have finished AJ off last night

Unfortunately there arent any big tests out there for him just yet imo. He smashes Wilder and im still not sold on Parker. Fury is obviously out of shape and has his own problems.

    **** off brain dead troll.

Trolls were mostly gone the first night, only the quality posters were out. Now you've got to beat the little ****ers off with a stick.

    Definitely.

Joshua took punches that I wasnt sure he would be able to take
Joshua got up after a big KD and came back
Joshua showed big power late on
    Joshua showed decent stamina

Would favour Joshua over many of yesteryears HWs
