You can only sell Medocrity for so long and then even the most Loyal fans will drop off,as for Mundine it was never going to last the Press have been kind to Him over His career but Knowledgable Boxing fans know he is all smoke and Mirrors, and most of His career has been Manipulated to His advantage.

The last few episodes by Him knocking back a World Title fight andchanging divisions to dodge Golovkin and then Fighting a Lowly ranked Taxi Driver in the next breath, and the incident with the Microphone catching Him manipulating His next easy fight will really come back and bite him on the Arse.

These incidents and both Mundine and Greens antics have done nothing for the betterment of Australian Boxing and the PT Barnham smoke and Mirrors Bull **** has finally ran its race and has been exposed for what it is,I know quite a few EX passionate Mundine fans who are now questioning His credibility and they are gutted with some of His latest Choices.

It's put money in local fighters pockets. That's not a bad thing for those who can land the payday.

But it's not Mundine writing the cheques, it's the deceived fans who fork out $50 every time he fights a local or an imported dud.

So the formula is talk **** + local fighter/import + $50 = new age boxing oz style.

If that's a formula you want the next batch of fighters adopting, you must have more money than sense brother.

These guys may have hurt boxing but they are not destroying it. It's the promoters constantly putting on one-sided cards, and protected fighters that can wear that one.
The fact is, if you have a good record in Australia, you've got buckley's of getting regular fights

    Here's the thing...

Don't think the lack of press Katsidis and Vic receive in Oz is that big a deal. They are on good contracts and make big money. boxing is so niche in Australia that local press only want to cover it for the circus that it has become here, thanks in large to Mundine.

Vic and Kats receive a generous amount of coverage from the international media and are two popular fighters. They fly the flag for oz boxing more than Green or Mundine simply because they fight on the two biggest US networks and are willing to fight anyone.

Another point - how many fighters has Boxa Promotions developed on the world stage since they started? They were in perfect position to develop a prospect or two and build them up but instead they gave us Mitrevski and Baff on just about every card.

At least with Vic and Elias Nassers relationship with Gary Shaw, it's opened the doors for guys like Zappa to land a Showtime contract and I've heard other guys like Tomlinson and King Davidson were being looked at too. All because of what Vic was able to achieve on US tv - not local ppvs.

edit: I'm actually agreeing with you but re-reading it, it sounds like I'm directing it at you as if you are pro-mundine here. sorry for that, I could have worded it better, but I'm just addressing some questions you raised.

You missing the most important part in your formula there.

NO.1 BE A LEAGUE SUPERSTAR WITH A BIG MOUTH.
All the fans Mundine brought were league fans. If he was just another Abo fighter with a big mouth, the media wouldn't give a ****. The formula is impossible to replica in my opnion. You will probably never see another Mundine in your lifetime.

Remember he gave up a 4 year 600k a year contract in league and jumped into boxing with no experience. He was the highest paid league player when he left. No other league player has the balls or skill to back themselves that far.

If at that time he made the switch you were told he would be a 3 time WC, you would say hats off, that is a remarkable achievement. We call people like Mundine 5 star enigmas.

100%. Fighters here are ticket scalpers for their promoters. for whatever reason, retaining the 0 is a must.

It's sad when a fighter like Junmar Dulog can't land a fight at his normal weight, despite having about 20 losses on his resume.

I used to go to boxing every other week. In the last few years i've been so pissed off with it I'll probably never go back.

I had free tickets to see danny green at challenge stadium so time ago (stipes drew) and could have walked there in20 minutes from my home but I just couldn't be ****ed.
