I think if Fury is super focused and keeps it long, it could be a walk in the park for him. However, after three matches with Wilder and the war with Wallin, I'm simply not sure he's capable of that anymore. He seems to be in love with walking down and breaking the will of his opponents. Not sure if that's due to age and wear and tear, his legs and control of range aren't what they used to be, and it's out of necessity, or if it's by some kind of macho choice. But if it's the former and I think it might be, he could be in trouble if he utilizes the same tactic against Whyte. By walking down, laying ou, and attempt to wear out and wear down Whyte, it'll give Whyte plenty of opportunities to land that very fast counter left hook of his, both on Fury coming in or going out. And let's be honest, if Wilder can land his ultra telegraphed right on him hard enough to drop him on several occasions. Well, Whyte, whose left hook is far sneakier, unpredictable and doesn't need a ton of torque behind it, definitely will. Has Tyson's chin been permanently cracked by Wilder? Let's be honest, he lucked out that Wilder's gas tank is terrible, if it wasn't, Wilder may have polished him off last time. How many ups and downs in weight can he do to his body, until that takes a toll? So if he goes to war with Whyte, whose chin, while not great... it isn't that bad either. Povetkin's uppercut would've KO'd Wilder and Fury cold as well. He could pay dearly for it. So it all depends, at range, 90/10 Fury, inside war, it's 50/50.

It's pretty good compared to what it was actually. He wasn't huffing and puffing against Chisora late in the rematch, late in the Rivas match, or the match with Parker until the last round or two, where he fell apart.

It's ironic because some of his notable predictions regarding Fury were: "Wlad KO1" and "Wilder KO2" and he strongly argued the case for an inexperienced champ Wilder KO'ing what was a prime Povetkin in 2016 (which I agree with) so it's not really about sh*tting on Wilder. He made a post back in 2018 arguing that Usyk would dominate the HW division, so everything on Fury is framed with that in mind.

That Parker fight it was bad,if he falls apart like that in 10 rounds he s done for.
To be fair that fight eas made kinda last minute and he didnt train as long as he should have.
I think his stamina eill play a big part.

Yes. 2 wins over the overwhelmingly least skilled champion in the history of boxing (whom he went life and death with) has elevated him to God like status.

Glad to see that even Tyson Fury, the yellow bellied poltroon that he is, agrees with my assessment of his skillset.:deal:

I suspected Fury was a fraud just 1 potentially disastrous fight away from being exposed.

The Francis fight is damning evidence. I don't care how hard Francis hits or that he was tutored by Tyson, Fury has NO EXCUSE for not only being dropped, but actually STRUGGLING with a zero fight novice from a completely different combat sport.

What can we conclude from this...?

-Fury was heavily getting by on his tremendous weight and height (pun intended). The guy is NOT a "high IQ" technician. He knows enough to competently maneuver around the ring and win rounds, but I would attribute at least 60-70% of his success to his size. In other words, a smaller guy with Fury's skill and ring IQ would be a mediocre contender at best.

-Fury's inactivity suggests if he were busier more people could have exposed him. This may be intentional from team Fury because they know he can't fight constantly against world class fighters.

-His erratic behavior and substance abuse problems are further proof of his lack of discipline and a disaster waiting to happen.

-Fury's chin is overrated. 7 knockdowns in 5 separate fights. Sure he'd gotten up multiple times, but those aren't the stats of an iron chinned guy. You can make excuses for how hard Wilder hits, but if Wilder had even a smidgen of ring IQ and finishing ability he could've been 2-1 against Fury. And there's ZERO excuse for Francis.

-Overrated jab. It's long and annoying, but honestly when did Fury actually just shut a guy down with his jab the way Holmes, Lewis, Hearns, etc etc...? Refresh my memory. He paws with it and plenty of guys get past it.

-Overrated footwork. He looks fast and nimble for a tall fat guy, but he's fighting in an era of muscle bound behemoths, slow plodders, and other fellow fat guys. How effective would that footwork be against a guy with decent fundamentals, skill, and speed?

-Paper thin resume. An ancient gunshy Wladmir, the wild swinging Wilder (who has a shockingly thin resume as well), a pointless trilogy with the very limited C level punching bag Derek ****ing Chisora, and the glass jawed caveman Dillian Whyte. The worst part is, he has plenty of options and consistently failed to take on the various contenders of his era. He made tons of excuses or had convenient retirements/inactivity.

-He marks up pretty easily. There are multiple fights where he has bruises, bad swelling, or ugly cuts. Could be a significant factor against other opponents h2h.

-Where are the combinations...? Fury often prefers herky jerky motions, placing his shots at a slower pace, etc. When he does actually let his hands go, he looks so...sloppy and awkward. He lacks proper snap and leverage with ugly fundamentals.

Fury is not a top 10 h2h monster. I'm questioning if he's even top 20 now. He can still redeem himself by beating Usyk (convincingly). If he tries to sail off into the sunset now, he is a a complete fraud even if we're just talking about historical relevance.

Solid post which got lost in the post fight chaos, and it deserves more attention.

Great resurrected thread. After seeing Fury last night, it’s obvious why he’s so scared to face Usyk, a great southpaw, technical boxer with a good gas tank and elite skills. Usyk embarrasses the fat slow slob we saw last night. Fury’s legs might be gone. We haven’t seen the jabbing, boxing machine, slick version of Fury in a very long time. Maybe that guy is gone for good and he’s just hanging on trying to milk the sport for every last dollar.
