i know in the 90's bowe refused to fight lewis. but holyfiueld still got it on with both. today we have haye, vitali and wlad as the clear top 3. none of them can agree fights with each other, and it is now doubtful if we will ever see them fight each other. i'm only 22 so don't remember much before the 90's. i know holmes never unified, where the other belt holders seen as fellow champs? it is ridiculous. the top 3 won't fight each other. and the challengers wont fight each other.
theres alot of divisions with the same problem, theres only certain era's when it has happened or will happened and they're always remembered as the best of boxing i.e. leonard, hagler, hearns and duran. the belts will be unified eventually, it always ends up that way, just not over night. remember, Haye hasn't held his belt for too long, he wants to establish himself as a real champ and one of the top 3, if he fought the klitschko's straight away, and was to lose to them, i think he would have been thrown away as just another bum like peter or the rest of the current crop
you cant really hold it against the Klitschko's for not fighting each other, boxing is a very emotional and brutal sport and the thought of having to physically smash your family is unsettling to say the least.
1982 Larry Holmes 1. Michael Dokes 2. Mike Weaver (no rematch) 1983 Larry Holmes 1. Gerrie Coetzee 2. Greg Page 1984 Larry Holmes 1. Pinklon Thomas 2. Greg Page 2002 Lennox Lewis 1. Wladimir Klistchko 2. Chris Byrd
well he's not a real champ, he can fight all the Audley Harrisons and John Ruizes he wants and still not be a champ; if he wants anyone outside of the island of Britain to perceive him as champ, go beat a Klitschko brother
so i am ridiculous for hoping haye will finally agree to fight a klitschko? well sorry if wanting to see the best fight each other is ridiculous in your opinion, but as a boxing fan it is what i want to see. even better would be audley ktfo of haye and then fight wlad himself.
