I don't think English people are demons , but, seems to me like once there was a certain level of comfort, people start to be more "moral". Just like the USA, killed Native Americans, took their lands, enslaved blacks and treated them like ****, then once the country is established up to a certain point, let's be more moral and start getting outraged if someone else practices slavery or kills dolphins.

The world is just ****ed up in general. There's ****ed up people everywhere.

Slavery is still allowed in many parts of Africa today and also Saudi Arabia. Children are killed in Africa because the village believes they're a witch.
