George Foreman got away with a huge cheap shot against Jose "King" Roman, one that definitely was deserving of a DQ.

But who the hell wants Joe Roman as world's heavyweight champeen ?

Benny Leonard was disqualified in a welterweight championship fight against Jack Britton for hitting him while he was down, if I'm not mistaken.

I think several others have been DQ'd by I cant recall. Normally, good professionals dont make such moves.

 

Though not exactly the same, there were two farces between Terry Norris and Luis Santana...

If i remember correct, Bowe did something similar before he won the title, but never got DQ'd for it.

 

He did to Buster Mathis Jnr. after he lost the title.
The New Jersey state commisioner, Larry Hazzard, discussed with the referee before they called in an NC.
Obviously he favoured Bowe and his cause.

I think Bowe may have done something before he won the title too. The Elijah Tillery fights were foul if I remember rightly, both Bowe and Tillery being culprits. With the customary post-fight riot taking place. atsch

 

Marciano-Walcott looked very similar to it in appearance, the only argument is that Walcott wasn't unable to continue from the shot that hit him whilst down, he was already out from the SuzieQ, whereas Dirrell was awake on the floor then got iced.

Benn could have been penalized for hitting Barkley while the Blade was down, but wasn't. Certainly similar though, Barkley on a knee after a knockdown, and the ruthless and eager Benn taking advantage.

 

Didn't Margo hit Cotto while he was down? Cotto was able to continue but then was stopped soon after.

Oh**** you're right. I was just going of the lasting visual memory in my head, never realised no part of him other than his feet was on the floor.
