The Margo/Cotto fight ended badly for Cotto but was a competitive fight the whole way (until the plaster hardened, allegedly).

Pacquiao-Barrera 2, Then you have Mosley-Wright 2 and Mosley-Forrest 2, even though those weren't ass whooping fights they were pretty one sided in the first fight.

I heard this rematch would be at a catchweight. Maybe if Pac wins, Cotto can fight Chavez Jr. for a vacant MW belt. If Cotto wins, Pac can fight him for a third time. The fight can be at a catchweight of 155 lbs. for Cotto's MW belt.

Seriously though, if this fight does happen, there should be no catchweight. The first fight wasn't competitive. There is only so many changes Cotto can make from a technical standpoint. Don't take away his size advantage again.

    great thread.

i don't think so. as long as pac's gonna whoop someone's ass, it might as well be someone who needs money.

The first to come to mind was Hagler-Hamsho. Hagler beat the hell out of Hamsho, jabbing him silly and busting up his face, and stopped him in 11. They had a rematch a couple years later, Hamsho may have been a mandatory.

Ezzard Charles was knocked down EIGHT times by Lloyd Marshall. Charles avenged that a couple years later, beating Marshall twice.

Terrible rematch, when Pac wins, his 8th title won't be looked at as that glorious.

Pac fought Cotto last year because Floyd chose to fight Marquez instead of Pac. Pac might fight Cotto again this year because Floyd doesn't want to sign.

Everytime Mayweather ducks Pac, Cotto is the one who gets a beating.

In hindsight, Chavez Vs. Taylor II was defo not needed.
(Unless peep's were grasping at straws that Meldrick could turn back time)

It's funny how many people say the rematch "proved" that Chavez was the better of the two. I'm not saying he wasn't, but all the rematch showed was that Taylor had declined that much more than Chavez, and also showed how desperate Taylor was for a big fight to go back down to 140 after swearing that he would only fight Chavez @ WW, and that making 140 drained him.

Taylor actually performed better than most people expected. That's how the fight was looked upon going in.

These fights happened all the time back in the day. A legend could flatten a journeyman six times in his career.

  15. i actually thought cotto was doing well until he decided to trade shots with pacquiao. if he can box from a distance in a rematch he can win. with relative ease i think. cotto has a great chin, despite what many may say and think. he also recovers quickly and has a lot of heart. i think he can do it. his game plan was all wrong for the first fight.
