Now I know that fast handed fighters can get into exchanges and such, but i'm talking about sluggers here. Rios, Provodnikov, Margarito, Maidana, Kirkland, etc...these types of come forward fighters. One of the aspects of them is that they tend to be slow or at least average at best with handspeed. Has there ever been one that had this style but with amazing hand speed? Is that even possible? I think hand speed is a lying indicator of skills in many ways. A lot of fast handed fighters tend to show no skills once they fight someone who can match, or surpass, them in speed. I think Mosley was an example of this. He really should have been just a brawler, who got lucky being born with fast hands. Mosley had an iron chin, great power, body work, and no jab...all qualities of a brawler. Roach correctly predicted that once Mosley fought a faster fighter (aka Mayweather) he would lose easily. His lack of basic jabs and fundamentals was evident. But back on topic, so is it possible or has there ever been a fast handed brawler?
Qawi, Armstrong, Gavilan, Juan Diaz come to mind, I'm sure there are more quick handed brawlers. Quick handed, come forward fighters with enough speed to rival and give boxer/punchers nightmares. Montreal Duran looked his fastest that night. Barrera at one point had blazing handspeed, tho his handspeed didn't match his footspeed. Bradley started off as a quick handed inside fighter too. We talkin different levels of skill here, just like there are highly skilled boxers there are highly skilled brawlers, you just don't see them around as much.
I'm not well versed on his career, but Pryor, in the clips I've watched, seems to fit the bill. Valero also comes to mind.
