Has there ever been a fight as big as PBF vs. Pac that wasn't made?

Robinson-Burley and Leonard-Pryor weren't as big fights as Mayweather-Pacquiao would be. Robinson and Burley were still contenders back when that fight should've happened, and that's when titles were harder to come by and meant more. Jones-Toney 2? Not much demand for that until a very short time period in 2003 when Jones had just won a HW belt and Toney won the CW title.

This **** has everyone talking. People who know **** all about boxing always ask me when Mayweather and Pacquiao are going to fight.

Pryor wasn't a big enough name to create that type of hype. Which is why Leonard gave him a "lowball" offer of $500k and Pryor said no thanks.

I think the rematch between Trinidad vs DLH would have been as big. Looking at their numbers they generated even in the age were illegal black boxes were so popular. This could have been very well one of the biggest fights to be watch again if the rematch ever happend. A lot of rematches could have play a big role esp. Sugar Ray vs Hagler or even another match between Ali vs Frazier.

This will be the biggest fight that never got made. It might even be the biggest fight ever if it ever pops off.

Dundee said he delayed it a bit to build the hype, but the time frame of when both guys were WW title-holders and the time it took to make was actually fairly short when you look at it.

June 1980: Leonard loses WBC title to Duran

August 1980: Hearns beats Cuevas for the WBA belt

November 1980: Leonard regains WBC belt against Duran

September 1981: Leonard and Hearns fight

Not one of those "years in the making" like Leonard-Hagler, Mayweather-Mosley, Holyfield-Tyson, Lewis-Tyson, etc..

ODH vs. Tito would have been big to us, but like Thread Stealer says, my buddies who don't even follow boxing are asking me when this fight is going down. Not the same.

It wasn't a BIG fight but one that should have taken place in their primes.

Calslappy leaves hide out in Wales to fight; Roy Jones, Jr.

Calslappy leaves hide out in Wales to fight; Bernard Hopkins

Calslappy leaves his hide out in Wales to fight; Kelly Pavlik

No lost that he didn't. They would have been one-sided fights anyway, and Calslappy would have been exposed as Warren protected against.

I miss the black-box age of the 1990s. Free PPV, and Don King would ****ing stack those DKP cards.

On a much smaller scale, Jones-Hopkins II in 2002. Like Mayweather and Pacquaio, they were #1 and #2 P4P. Unlike Mayweather and Pacquaio, they were fighting two divisions apart. RJ said was willing to come down to 168 to make it happen, but it never did. Personally, I don't feel that one not happenign was as bad as Mayweather-Pacquaio not being made because I think RJ is clearly the best fighter of their era based on beating B-Hop the first time around. If Mayweather-Pacquaio never happens, there won't be a definite best fighter of the current era, and that's too bad.

i dont think most of the fights listed in the thread compare to Mayweather vs Pac... in terms of just how big the fight is.

Two of boxing biggest stars right now, two of the biggest fan bases in the sport, plus both fighting for p4p #1, both back to back to back million dollar marks... with the fight a lock for setting almost every live gate and ppv record to date and then some, not to mention the international appeal.

Sorry, IMO, Pac vs Mayweather is the biggest fight to never get made if these two dont fight.

I used to get people to pitch in $5 for the fight, which I didn't pay for, and go buy a drunk as hell.

I still feel DLH/Trinidad rematch would have been as big. They are both very similar as being popular and their rankings at that time. But more importantly the two cultures or as others see as a rivalry is something that Manny/Mayweather doesn't have.

I think Ali Foreman II is the biggest fight ever that never got made. And it will always be.
