Has there ever been a fight as big as PBF vs. Pac that wasn't made?

Well said. When I read some of the suggested picks in this thread, it becomes apparent that many people don't have a clear handle on just how massive this thing is.

First of all. Calzaghe rarely fought in Wales. Secondly, why dodn't they come to fight him? He's fought in the states a few times. how many times have Pavlik, B-hop and Roy fought in europe between them??? Zero

Pavlik has been smacked about twice since calling out Joe. The other two fights mentioned would have been great fights and i would not have liked of picked a winner.

A Eubank and Toney fight back in the day would have been good

Thank goodness Leonard vs. Pryor was never made.......Leonard would have butchered him, poor choice of a fight......

While there are plenty of great fights being bandied about here, most of them either eventually happened or wouldn't have been nearly as big as Mayweather/Pacquiao at this point. I'll concede that some of the heavyweight bouts back in the early 90s probably would generate a similar level of interest, but selections like Leonard/Pryor or Robinson/Burley are not really on the same level of "bigness." Rather, they are fantasy match ups that have captivated hardcore fans for decades now.

This fight, if made, will be the biggest thing in boxing since the 1980s. Considering the fall the sport has taken in the U.S. since then, that's pretty damn exceptional.

You kidding? Foreman was retired for three years before anyone knew who Holmes was.

In the 4 Kings book it claims they were going to fight a few years before and had the contracts signed. Dundee was on vacation(he had final say on SRL opponents) and when he heard about it telephoned Mike Trainer(SRL lawyer) and cancelled the Hearns fight.

Foreman vs Tyson would blow any of these fights away.
