Has there ever been a fight as big as PBF vs. Pac that wasn't made?

Tyson-Foreman would've been HUGE. Obviously not the same p4p #1 vs. #2, prime/near-prime matchup that Mayweather-Pacquiao will be, but just imagine how big of an event it would've been.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao = (16-0) AFC team vs (16-0) NFC team in the Super Bowl.

    Am I exaggerating? No.

Am I possibly a over-zealous boxing fan? Maybe.

It was supposed to happen when they were 50 years old. But they cut some of Foreman's purse so he pulled out.

Seems like those who say nothing compares to Pac/Mayweather are young fans, teens or early 20s.

IMO, Tyson/Holyfield in 1990(before Douglas upset) would've been just as big, if not bigger than Pac/Mayweather. Can't forget how hugely popular Tyson was at the time, both fighters would've been undefeated, and both were in their primes. I knew quite a bit of people who couldn't contain their excitement at the possiblity of these 2 fighting each other.

another fight that comes to mind is Trinidad/Jones in 2002. I know alot of fans were excited about this fight in 2001 until Hopkins changed plans.

I agree, I think the casual fan would be slow to even think boxing again if this doesn't happen. I know I'll be ****ing pissed as will everyone else here.

Until Tyson lost I don't think there was huge interest in Holyfield except as the latest victim because Tyson had such an aura of invincibility. Once Buster beat Tyson and Buster lost to Holyfield then it became a lot more interesting to think about Tyson-Holyfield.

The thing is, if PAC-PBF happens, it will make a very huge and positive impact on sports in general not just in boxing.

PAC is not just known in Philippines, but in Asia as well--countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, etc.

We also know that PBF is hugely popular in the US.

If this fight happens, the world will watch.

    Great posts guys!

Pac-Money will be huge if it goes down, but because im a child of the 90s i've definately gota say due to tyson-mania we can just image how big Tyson Vs Foreman would have been, or even Tyson Vs Bowe :bbb

this is the biggest. there hasnt been a time when
-the two no.1 pound for pound guys
    - were in their primes
    - cleaned out all the other fighters 5 divisions around them
    - both were as popular as they are now and charismatic as they both are
    - were as skilled, exciting and good at what they do as these guys.
    - both are arguably top 25 guys.

this dosent happen very often. last time was probably hearns/hagler/leonard/duran.

    all the other matchups of oscar/trinidad, lewis/tyson, holyfield/tyson, hopkins/jones,
had the star power- but didnt happen with the same timing that this one has the potential of having.

to paraphrase merchant- we all think its a great fight- and its better than we think.
