Has there ever been a fighter in Boxing History like Allan Green?

I can't really recall a fighter in history that had/has such a huge gap between their best performances and their worst. I first saw Allan Green in the Amatuers and I thought..."Damn, a big kid with long arms, a solid jab and nice power shots". And I knew that he would be a solid Pro and even a title Holder. But I have never seen a fighter look SOOO DIS-INTERESTED IN BOXING, WHILE ACTUALLY IN THE RING. I have see guys like Judah and Pavlik have some focus issues during a fight and look great for half the fight then fade later, but IMO that's just lack of conditioning (both mentally and physically).

But I have seen Green look DEFEATED during his ring entrance (on several occasions)...then a fight or two later, he looks absolutely FOCUSED AND AMAZING.

Is there any other fighter in Boxing history with this kind of "LACK OF MENTAL FOCUS?"

    THE BEST OF ALLAN GREEN

Those clips are deceiving. At that weight there is a big gap in speed at the world class level. He lacks that world class speed and fluidity. He is a power fighter and can get outboxed by the top togs in that division all day. He is always a dangerous opponent but a sound world class boxer should beat him often. He has skills but maybe like you said not focused to take it to the next level against the best.

I agree, I watched him as a prospect and at times he has looked very promising and other times not so much. It could be outside influences in his life that distracts him. He still has a chance to improve with his career. I wont count him out as yet

I agree. He doesn't have the mental fortitude for the sport. He doesn't cope well with the pressure of the situation. If he is faced with adversity, as a defence mechanism he kind of shuts off and acts uninterested in the fight. It's a similar, although a different version, to what Cintron does is such circumstances. But where Cintron will do something dramatic like fall out of the ring and exaggerate an injury, or fake a head clash, Green tends to just tune out or distract himself to avoid facing the situation. Such as when he did that weird staring down at his boots all the time in the Miranda fight, or when he seems more interested in whats going on in the crowd and is completely unresponsive to his corner, such as vs Ward.

Hang on, Green is such a long way from world level . He doesnt and will never have the physical capabilities to even get to a place where mental attributes are required. At no point would I ever say he has looked amazing. A subtle step up in class against middleweight Miranda showed a lack of speed , ring IQ and stamina.

He is cleary just a ring bully who when pushed becomes an Origami lesson - Fold , Fold and fold again.

Harsh man, Allan green was a damn good amateur fighter. He just didn't live up to the potential.
