Has there ever been a fighter who had a CONTROVERSY-FREE zero?

By that, I mean NO SPLIT OR MAJORITY DECISIONS on their resume and NO CONTROVERSIAL DECISIONS, just solid KOs, TKOs, wide and deserved UDs, and thoroughly dominant performances.

Ricardo Lopez had his draw with Rosendo Alvarez.

Joe Calzaghe had a close and competitive SD with Robin Reid, then another SD with Bernard Hopkins, this one highly controversial as many people felt he lost.

Floyd Mayweather Jr had an SD with Oscar De La Hoya, and a very controversial decision over Jose Luis Castillo, where he was comprehensively outpunched statistics-wise, and where many onlookers believed Castillo deserved the nod.

Even a KO puncher like Rocky Marciano had his Roland LaStarza.

Can anyone think of a fighter who has a zero untainted by SDs, MDs, or any sort of controversy? :bbb

But not a controversy free life. The price to pay for a 100% knockout ratio, perhaps.

I doubt you can get to thirty or forty fights against decent opposition without a few near misses; near enough to allow people to question them, anyway.

That's a short-hand way of saying I can't think of any, apart from maybe Valero, but he was controversial for other reasons, and arguably hadn't yet faced the best.

I don't know anything about Samson Dutch Boy Gym, though; I'm sure some Thais are probably bitching about it.

Edwin Valero is the only one I can think of.

Other undefeated top level fighters I can think of:

    Mayweather - Castillo is disputed
    Marciano - Lastarza is disputed
    Lopez - Alvarez draw
Calzaghe - Hopkins is disputed (Reid is stretching it)
Harry Simon - Winky Wright was disputed
Sven Ottke - A number of controversial decisions, most notably Reid
Samson Dutchboygym - Got a TD against Moreno that arguably should have been a KO loss
Michael Loewe - disputed decision over Michael Carruth
Paul Spadafora - Robbery draw vs. Leonard Dorin
Ike Ibeabuchi - Disputed win over Tua
Pichit Sithwhatever - disputed win over Zepeda
Lazslo Papp - Had a couple of draws
Joe Mesi - Somewhat disputed win against Jirov

I'm pretty sure there were a few others as well. I feel like there was a Korean champ who retired undefeated who I can't remember, and another guy who won a paper title and then died in a car accident.

Also, there are plenty of guys who retired with controversy free zeros who just never fought anyone decent (e.g., J.D. Chapman, Scott Daley).

Ricardo Lopez' 0 was controversy free - the draw with Alvarez is on his record as a draw, all of his victories were well deserved and can't be disputed.

Ibeabuchi and Valero are equally obvious and quite depressing picks.

I was a big Valero fan. I would love to see that raw energy he brought back in boxing. The last few days of his life, I was so hopeful he would get his life back on track but sadly not. Just a really horrible ending to his career and life.

How was that disputed? I thought he was the clear winner, and I'm a Tua fan.

I've heard a lot of people who scored it a draw. If you want to include him, then fine, but it doesn't make him any greater. But if you include him, I'd also include Simon and Dutchboygym.

Because many scored it a draw and there were even a few who scored it in Tua's favor. Me personally, I had the fight a dead even draw based on rounds, but if you want me to pick an actual winner I'd go with Tua because he clearly landed the heavier blows throught the bout and therefore did the most accumulative damage.

That's not the point though, point is that Ibeabuchi's perfect record can be disputed.
