Has there ever been a successful defense of the four big titles?

Nope, Usyk came out from WBSS undisputed. Bellend lost his CW WBC when he ran off to HW. He does have WBC emeritus champ status ( ****ing joke and insult to greats like VK & Mayweather ) but you can’t win that off of someone.

Didn't Tszyu unify the titles then defend? Oh, but nobody considered the WBO equal to the other three yet and he didn't have it. He had all the other ones but Demarcus Corley and Zab Judah held the WBO belt from 2001-2004 when Tszyu ruled.

Yeah, in the previous 3-belt era I think more than a couple of people unified & defended the WBA, IBF, and WBC. That has even been done a few times since the WBO hit the scene, but now par is set at having (and defending) all four.
