Has there ever been an accumulation of punishment to match Lewis-Mavorvic?

Has any boxer ever taken so many hard power shots from one of the hardest punchers of the heavyweight division when the said puncher was in his prime? Inquiring minds want to know.

I suppose Holmes V Cobb usually springs to mind. as an accumulated beating.

Holmes wasn't one of the hardest punchers in the heavyweight division ever.

ali gave ernie terrell a frightful beating - but kept him upright up to prolong it - rather than drop him. same thing with floyd paterson.

Does Louis-Farr warrant a mention? Louis was just about the most accurate of the bombers of history, and Farr was tough, but not fast or a defensive whiz. The fight went, as you know, 15 rounds in Louis' heyday.

Not too sure about real hard hitting heavyweights besides the ones named who gave someone such a bad beating and it still went the full distance.

Mike Tyson gave Razor Ruddock a horrific beating in the rematch, but not as many clean shots to the head as Mohawk took from Lewis.

Chris Byrd went the distance in the first fight with Wladimir Klitschko, and took a bad beating.

Tua and Ike killing one another.

Ray Mercer and Bert Cooper beat the living **** out of each other in a fight that somehow went the distance. Mercer's jaw was disgustingly swollen and some of Cooper's punches literally lifted Mercer off his feet.

That was an amazing display as that guy took exceptional shots and never really wavered ... he did also never fight again ....

None of the fights mentioned were close ... Ali was not the puncher Lewis was, nor was Holmes ...Farr did not get hit as often ....

    Maybe Bonecrusher/Tyson or maybe Lewis/Mercer ...

Possibly, although I don't think Golota was quite as hard a puncher as Lewis, although he was a better combo puncher in his prime than Lennox. Also, compare what happened to Mavrovic and Bowe in that fight: Bowe went down twice and was frequentely out on his feet; Mavrovic was never even close to a flash knockdown.

In terms of making a reputation as an iron man of the sport in a single fight, I'm not sure any performance can compare to Mavrovic's against Lewis.
