...a shot better on the left or right side of the face/chin?...(No doubt a very hard thing to spot, or gather evidence for...if there is anything to spot). Random question, but I've just got in and I'm really tired...and after seeing how the General has been going over the past 2-3 weeks fire), this is very original...and about as valid as anything produced in that time period.
I think maybe if a fighter has worse vision in one eye than another, he could have more trouble seeing certain punches coming and be less prepaired to take the shot.
That's a good point actually. The shots you don't see... What do you think about taking shots on either side of the jaw? You think one side could more sensitive than the other?
Maybe Arthur Abraham? I have wondered if have a titanium plate in his jaw effects his punch resistance.
Certain parts of the jaw may be more sensitive than others...would be a good question to actually ask him.
When I was fighting, there were two places I knew would mess with my equilibrium more than other places: a left hook landing not on the jaw but on my right temple, and a straight right hand landing slightly on the left point of my chin. Never noticed any lefts hurting my jaw or messing with my balance if they didn't land on the temple area, nor any right crosses landing near my temple and hurting me at all. HOWEVER, I don't think I fought enough left handed guys to really test this theory, maybe the lefts were just not as powerful at the jaw level. I think its very possible, but only the real fighters could tell you (and if they get knocked out bad enough, they don't even remember that enough to tell you). Very interesting question.
I only ever fought amateur, so my experience with taking shots on the jaw/temple are very limited (clearly because I had lightening reflexes )...and I can't remember a certain part or side giving me more trouble than the other. Would be interesting to hear what an experienced pro would say. Good insight though, man. :good
Ali was dropped only by left hooks. Even took Shavers right. Julio Cesar Chavez was dropped multiple times by a straight right. Tszyu, Randall.... both have granite chins Andrey
getting hit on a metal plate in your jaw feels weird like its kinda padded but that seems to add to the sensation its hard to describe but if your not expecting it hurts like a *****
