I don't think your main point of the contenders not facing each other is actually true. When you actually look at the contenders i've listed they have faced each other quite a bit.

(Byrd.) Fought Wlad, Vitali, Povetkin, Davarrly Williamson, McCline, Golota, Oquendo, Holyfield, Tua, Ike.

(Peter.) Fought Wlad x2, Vitali, Helenius, Chambers, Maskaev, Toney x2, McCline.

(Chagaev.) Fought Valuev, Povetkin, Wlad, Ruiz, Mehan, Drumond, Skelton, Vyrchys.

(Haye.) Enzo, Mormeck, Barrett, Valuev, Ruiz, Wlad

(Solis.) Needs to fight more contenders.

(Brock.) Unlucky to be forced into early retirement.

(Helenius.) Fought Peter, Liakovich, Brewster and Chisora

(Valuev.) Fought Haye, Ruiz, Holyfield, Chagaev, Liakovich, McCline, Barrett, Donald.

    (Toney.) Peter x2, Rahman

(Povetkin) Chagaev, Chambers, Bryd, Donald, Boswell

(Adamek) Golota, Arreola, Grant, Vitali several World title fights at lower weights.

(Ibragimov) Wlad, Holyfield, Briggs, Austin, Whitaker, Retired to early I would say.

(Brewster) Liakovich, Helenius, Wlad x2, Kransiqi, Golota, Mehan,

    (Sanders) Rahman, Vitali, Wlad

(Thompson) Needs to fight moore, pity his chambers fight fell through.

(Chambers) Povetkin, Wlad, Peter, Dimitrenko, Brock, Rossy (good fight at the time)

(Juan Carlos Gomez) Vitali, Vyrchys, McCall x2, plus long standing CW champ.

(Ustinov) Needs to fight more contenders.

I don't think it's that bad when looked at like that, especially considering most of those are still active fighters.

Below Average. It is slightly underrated if u ask me, Vitali, Wlad, Chisora, Helenius, Povetkin, Pulev, Glazkov, Chageav, Chambers, Liakhovich, Arreola, Dimitrenko, Fury, Solis, Barrett, Mitchell, Perez, Thompson, Wach, Boystov, Mansour, Pianeta, Price, Gerber, Rahman ect. So it is decent. Not nearly the best.

The fact that 49 year old Evander Holyfield is still a contender tells you everything you need to know about today's HW division.

Also what kind of little ***** blocks people on an internet forum?

After K2, all of the current contenders are jokes.

    - But there are quite a few VERY promising prospects. Wilder, Glazkov, Mitchell, & maybe still Boytsov. They all have typical "prospect" weaknesses, but nothing that a good trainer can't take care of. I could see any of these guys beating Wlad, given a bit more time & training. (And Vitali will surely retire soon.)

My money's on Deontay eventually taking out Wlad for the title. (War, Wildman!)

2013 could be a very interesting year for the HW division.

So basically the division is **** now but will be great if an average (at least now Wilder is) American wins a title, right oh, got you.

I think it's quite fine actually. You've basically said all the current era apart from K2 are rubbish.

But behold Detoney Wilder, an American, this bloke in fact, will save heavyweight boxing and herald in a new golden era.

The funny thing is, out of the top contenders you listed (only some of whom should actually be classified as contenders - Toney? Brewster? Sanders? No way) you'll note that few of them actually fought each other.

Here are *this* era's valid contenders:

    Brewster
    Byrd
    Peter
    Haye
    Povetkin
    Arreola
    Adamek (I guess)
    Gomez
    Helenius
    Fury
    Chisora
    Solis
    Chambers
    Thompson
    Valuev
    Ibragimov
    Brock

I was pretty generous in classifying some of these fighters as being from this era, and quite generous in classifying some of these as actually being "contenders", but I wanted to have as forgiving a pool as possible in support of your position.

Now, out of this pool of contenders, keeping in mind that there's actually quite a bit of overlap between two eras here, how many of them fought each other WHILE they were both considered top contenders?

Haye-Valuev (though I question the credibility of Valuev's status as a top contender instead of a manufactured freakshow, I respect the fact that he was a titleholder)
    Helenius-Chisora (best example)
    Povetkin-Chambers (also a good example)
    Adamek-Arreola
    Fury-Chisora
    If I'm being extra generous - Chambers-Peter

That's really it. Everyone else had fought names after they lost their status as contenders (Helenius vs. Peter, Brewster, and Liakovich), or they made their names in other weight classes and had a single fight against a top-10 opponent.

To qualify as a "strong era", IMO, the list of fights between top contenders should be 5x that.

The current top contenders and prospects of this era are:
    Povetkin
    Thompson
    Chambers
    Arreola
    Adamek
    Helenius
    Chisora
    Fury

If we're to avoid another wasteland of a division, they need to start fighting each other. Chisora is setting a good example in wanting to go after the other conteners, as did Adamek and Arreola when they fought each other, but EVERYBODY must begin doing that.

A super six-style tournament among these guys would actually go a long way to building the resumes of the best contenders and strengthen the credibility of the era in general.

Now that you've cherry-picked one single round, a FIRST round in fact, in which Deontay was (intelligently) being cautious against a meatball who regardless of fatness actually has serious KO power and who is incredibly hard to knockout, we know there is no longer any point in considering your opinions. You decide on an agenda and then twist facts around to try to prove it. So go **** your mother.

    - And BTW, as we all know, Deontay won that fight by yet another spectacular 1-punch KO. Of course, you didn't show that part.

The Klitschkos would be champs or at least contenders in most, if not all, HW eras.

The rest of the division? That's a different story.
