Has Trinidad's stock really fallen that far behind DLH's since they fought or have most of the Trinidad fans here simply vacated the site? I know this topic has kinda been done to death on these boards but while I read through over 20 pages of back and forth in the Joe Calzaghe is the Greatest Boxer of the Last 25 Years thread I noticed that Oscar got FAR more mentions than Trinidad in regards to fighters people considered better than Calzaghe.

Is it purely a skills thing? In that Trinidad was kind of exposed in regards to his inability to adapt in a fight if he can't get his offense off? Because I can't see it being up to resumes or losses.

p.s. Forgot to add one thing I was going to mention, that being The Ring's list of 80 greatest boxers of the last 80 years that had Trinidad well ahead of DLH.

I think what hurt him is retiring and then coming back only to lose. He never should of retired when he did, thats when Oscars stock started surpassing his.

    Agree!

The Tito myth took a huge hit when he unretired and was embarrased by Winky.

He is still one of my all time favs though!

Why though? In the time since Trinidad retired the first time DLH has beaten Vargas (who Trinidad had already ko'd), Campas, Sturm (controversial), Mayorga (who Trinidad had already ko'd) and Forbes while losing to Mosley, Hopkins, and Mayweather Jr. Trinidad came back from retirement to beat Mayorga (first to stop him), then lose to Wright and Jones.

I don't see how unimpressive wins and more losses would raise DLH's stock.

There's still the issue of the DLH/Trinidad fight which the great majority of observers still feel was a "schooling"(regardless of the running):deal

Not to mention the fact that all of Tito's losses have been pretty convincing whereas DLH's could have gone either way(except for the Hopkins fight)

Tito's losses may have been more convincing but so were his victories. The only W on his record that was in any way controversial was the W he got against DLH. DLH on the other hand had the Whitaker, Quartey, and Sturm fights and regardless of how the judges scored it I felt Floyd beat DLH quite convincingly.

Retirement just doesn't do it for a fighters stock, especially when a fighter returns only to loose. Remember he beat Mayorga, then lost to Wright (wide UD) retiring afterwards. He came back and lost to Jones (wide UD).
Tito's fight against Oscar is considered controversial as well, like Oscars second defeat to Mosley. Oscars Mega fight against Floyd wasn't a bad performance for the past prime fighter. Another thing that made Oscar stock rise is that he is a huge promoter.

ODLH is the golden face, the superstar in boxing, he is well known all over the globe wither your a boxing fan or not. His loses like the poster above mentioned were highly controversial, He even won against Trinidad in the eyes of Many.. People even forgave Oscar for his lose against BHOP (some even claiming he took a dive) , whereas Titos lost against BHOP,WINKY was a total humiliation.

I'm sorry but the losses to Hopkins we equally bad, if not worse for DLH.
