Be it financial potential or otherwise, is he the largest waste in the history of boxing?

Guys like Edwin Valero, Tony Ayala Jr and Ike Ibeabuchi threw away far more with their out of the ring stupidity. At least Tyson made it to the top of the mountain. Those guys wasted their entire lives and got nothing to show for it.

Fair enough, but Tyson has the opportunity to be one of the highest grossing fighters in history. His size and personality are larger than life.

He's not that good. Beating shot Wlad was like Christmas and his birthday all rolled into one. What he's done since then is basically who he is. There was almost no potential there to waste.

He at least threw away the rematch with Wlad which would have been a 20-30 million pay day.

It is arguable whether he would have won the rematch and him ducking it twice pointed to him not believing that he would win the rematch.

So at a bare minimum Tyson missed out on 20-30 million payday because he ducked Wlad. After that its a wash.

Yes, he's up there. Could have been this generation's Ali in terms of his polarising ability and out of the ring persona, but fell victim to his own demons. He's a massive what if story.

He overachieved to the extreme. You can't waste what isn't there.

His second best win was against, who, Chisora or Cunningham? Cool.

He was never going to be a high grossing fighter by himself. He was too media unfriendly, there's a reason why you never saw him on chat shows and other media. Joshua fight would of made him richer but he would be a poor draw without a more popular opponent.

He should have taken the rematch and the purse, even if he was out of shape. He (and his family) is sorely missing that $10 million payday now.

Made the right decision in retiring. Would have have been exposed in the rematch against Wlad. Definitely would put good money on Joshua stopping him afterwards. Flicking out a few jabs and running from a complacent Klitschsko doesn't change my opinion on his win. The bodybuilder did it the proper way.

I don't get all these people saying 'wlad had an off day', 'fury would lose a rematch'
fury is a very awkward guy to fight and he beat the man!
