I think only in kickboxing. And it is even more impressive because he has taken TWO BOMBS. The Lennox uppercut in the 5th or 6th and the Sanders straight missile in the 1st or 2nd.
It's a shame this guy didnt have the chance to fight all the good competition that Lennox had the chance to beat.
I think he went down early in his career. It was flash ko/stumble if i remember rightly. As to the kick boxing, i heard he got Ko'ed by Pele Reid (British boxer) in a European final. Does anyone know if this is true?
Vitali says he was never knocked out or even knocked down in his boxing career- not even as an amateur. He took some huge shots from Lennox and Sanders and was standing, which shows how good his chin is. There are rumors he was knocked down by a leg kick in kickboxing, but I have never seen them varified.
he was tackled in the fight for boxing. i dont know anything bout his kickboxing career. but hell of career for him kickboxing champ (cant remember how manytimes i think 2 time) and boxing 2 time boxing champ.wbo and wbc. only time he been down in boxing the opponent grab by his legs and tackled him
it was ruled a slip but Sanders clearly shook him and it shoulda been ruled a KD. Pele Reid knocked him out.
No Vitali has never been down. He is one of two ring magazine champs to have never been floored. Vitali chin has been tested vs big punchers like Lewis, Sanders, and Hide. In addtion, Vital has the best knockout precentage in the history of champions in boxing. The best rounds won to rounds lost ratio in the history of heavyweight champions... AND was the first man to ever come back at age 37+, with nearly 4 years off and no warm up fights to win a title belt. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
i agree though i will like to see him defend the wbc and wlad win his fight. so they can be defending champs together. who next in line for a wbc shot?? serious question i havent seen the ranking to know.
He was put down twice in sparring during 2005 when attempting his comeback. Travis Walker put him down with a left to the body. Raphael Butler also knocked him down with a counter right, which was the reason why he had to cancel once with Hasim Rahman. He got hit with counter after missing with the jab, and took a knee and it twisted under him.
