Winky will make it into the HOF, I'm sure of that.

He's one of the most underrated fighters of his generation, I actually rate him higher than Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Felix Trinidad in all-time p4p terms, and clearly ahead of the likes of Tszyu and Calzaghe.

Winky would beat Mayweather, Pacquiao and Cotto, and pretty clearly at that. He was a very big, very strong light-middleweight, as Shane Mosley found out to his cost. Floyd, Manny and Cotto would all find his jab, style and size too much to deal with at 154.

:nonoWatch it buddy I'm a Tszyu fan lol. Other than that, I agree that Wright should be ranked ahead of Tszyu.

:lol:i remember talking big **** before the fight to my wife about how mosley would outmuscle the weaker wright. man i looked like a tit...

normally i agree with ya pop....but i rate shane and even tito higher and put winky on par with tszyu. his resume is good but not great and there's not enough definitive wins on his ledger. bottom line for me: both the oscar win and the margo win are far better than anything winky did.

I think imo Winky Wright got a better career then Mosley. Remember Wright first time i remember that lost by being dominating was against Williams in his last fight in which the rest when he hit his peak was either barely lost or being robbed. And lets not forget he beat Mosley twice in a row and did something not many here thought he could do and that's beating Trinidad by a shut out.

It's debatable. I'm a fan of both but I feel he has the better victories. De la Hoya twice and Margarito plus he twice beat Vargas, the man who beat Wright though Vargas just wasn't the same guy who fought Wright.

wright though got dominated by vasquez back in the day but i see your point. there's more though than not losing badly, there's winning impressively and winky didn't do it enough against the best (mckart don't count)

Did you see that fight? All I found is this. Wright was more of a mover than and not the "stand in your face w/ the high guard" version we are familiar with.

I disagree. Completely. Oscar lost to Mosley who Wright beat twice in a row and Beat Trinidad by a shut out. Trinidad is far better then Margarito and Mosley i hate to admit was a better fighter then De la hoya.

Vargas was clearly a shot in the dark fighter when Mosley beat him Twice. Vargas was ruined by losing to tko by both Trinidad and De la hoya and coming back from back surgery.

Margarito, yes. Mosley, debatable. I think overall De la Hoya was a better fighter than Trinidad as much as I hate admitting to that me being a Trinidad fan.

I agree and in my post I said he wasn't the same fighter he was against Wright. Still, Trinidad ruined Vargas worse than DLH did. Both great fights that Fernando showed alot of heart in.

Wright in his prime is a tough fight for anybody. That video only showed the knockdowns so I have no idea whether it was competitive or not so I'll see that fight soon.

never lied about watching a fight and i won't start now: only have seen that clip. what i read he was dominated but who knows

but yeah, by all accounts he was a jabber, a mover and a more fluid boxer in those days:good

That's fine I just was curious. Later in his career he became more offensive-minded and that led to his entertaining fights with Quartey & Taylor. I'll see the Vasquez-Wright fight for myself and find out.
