Do I really have to be the one to tell you this?

Pavlik beats McKart is '06. He's 35 at that point, and has lost 3 of his last six, to Travis Simms, Verno Phillips and Winky by DQ after getting schooled for 8 round. He was only 29 at the time of the first Winky clash in 2000, and he didn't win that fight at all. It was a clear win for Winky. The first fight I suppose you could debate, but this was in '96 before Winky was even a world champion, and when McKart was already established having won a world title. Not to mention that the fight was in McKart's hometown which made the result much, much closer.

Thanks man:good I'm not trying to hate on Winky at all. In fact I've been a fan for some time. I thought he beat Taylor and Hopkins(based on effective punching and the fact that Bernard rarely landed a shot)

If he shakes of the ring rust, comes into the ring on the back of a solid win and confident he beats any of those guys. He's like Hopkins, he relies on his smarts more than anything and technique, which is why guys like him and Hopkins will always be able to compete at the top level despite their age.

Hopkins is still a fantastic fighter, and Winky is too. I scored their fight 114-114 a piece and that was with Winky up at 170. If he can get back into shape and has a tune up first he can beat anyone at 154 and 160 imo.

Winky will slap his way to a decision with most guys out there.

I agree Tommy but you're missing the point. It's merely a style based comparison to help others realize that Pavlik has torn apart the turtle in the past and would do it much easier now. Its a style truly made for Pavlik. Think about it.........harder

I agree but his inactivity, age, combined with ring rust seperates him from the current pedigree of 160 and 154.
Lets stop bullshitting ourselves here.....Winky gets a tune up then another year or two later when he's drawing Social Security he fights a big name and by your logic is the hands down winner?.....think about what you are really saying

McKart. Winky. I hope you don't need telling that there's an obvious, vast chasm in class.

When is Winky open and in range to be hit anyway? Pavlik is a predictable fighter, forget the reach advantage because Pavlik will close that himself, Winky's jab owns Pavlik's jab all night, Pavlik jabs, Winky jabs over the top all day. He throws the 1-2 or 1-1-2 combination, Winky's covered up all night, he's throwing the southpaw jab, Pavlik's trying to fend it off and Winky fires the left hand behind it. Always moving and circling out of range.

Well now you're just displaying ignorant bias, and have dropped out of reality with your posts, which is abit saddening as previously I held your posts with some sincerity and abit of worth.
See what you're doing is overexaggerating Winkys abilities and downplaying Pavlik by pretty much saying he's a predictable and that it would not be competitive at all.
Thanks but I've heard enough bull**** for one morning:hi:

Why do people like slappers like Wright? He is boring as hell. That's why I shake my head when people want to see him fight De la hoya.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be competitive, but I would take Winky by a UD something like 116-112.

I'm not downplaying Pavlik, the guys got real accumalative power, a decent chin, he's rangy, physically very strong and has great stamina.

I think your the one downplaying Winky's ability if you think he loses to Sturm, Santos and Kirkland etc. The guys one of the best defensive fighters out their, one of the most intelligent, has great footwork and understanding of range and rhythm, and has one of the best jabs not to mention his difficult southpaw stance.

Hmmmm. Mexican calling Wright a slapper is abit disturbing(calzaghe yes Wright no)
People like Wright(including myself) for his expert counter ability and he is the true master of the turtle defense, which yes is abit boring, but a fighter like Pavlik would make it interesting as Winky wouldnt be able to hide as much as he likes....
On the flipside Winky-AA would be an utter borefest as both share similar, somewhat boring styles............I can see it now AA and Winky circling each other in a shell for over a half hour:-(

So by your logic Winky just can't be beaten. I got it now:nut
Is it out of your realm of comprehension that Pavlik could pick apart the Winky turtle?....obviously yes
I'm a fan of Winky and you are obviously a nuthugger. don't believe me scroll up and page back:yep

Doesn't mean he slaps. He doesn't commit to punches because he's a defensive minded fighter, he concentrates on countering with speed rather than power.

If you think every fighter with a low KO percentage slaps then you need to learn something about boxing.
