Has Wlad done enough to establish lineage?

Unification of all titles is not required for starting lineage, what is required is that
#1 fights #2, eventually #3 under some circumstances (like there is no recognized
difference between #2/#3), and that is what really happened Byrd was #2, and Chagev
was #3/arguably #2 which is a strong case. Not even unification of the belts is required.

It is not required to beat a faded legend, or retired ATG to establish lineage,
maybe in the case of Holmes it was a strong argument that he forced to quit
a guy who was already one leg in the wheelchair ... I bet if Ali would not came back
Holmes would be recognized as a champion fighting Berbick or Spinks next year.
So then everybody would ask who the hell Holmes beat in his whole life?

I seriously think that Wlad beating the guys like Byrd, Chagaev, Peter, Brewster
or Ibragimov means more than if he was beaten unretired 40+ year old Tyson or Lewis
or ancient Holyfield back in 2009.

    Lol.

Wlad has never beaten the #1 or #2 HW in the world while he was ranked #1 or #2. Never.

In fact, Vitali has a stronger claim to the HW title than does Wlad...

so at which number according to you was Byrd and Chagev?

Also ... who was the highest ranked opponent Vitaly beat, Sanders? ...
Vitaly came from the lose to Lewis and they been fighting for a vacated title
no way this is a stronger case than Wlad's.

Vitaly was never #1 by himself, when he was belt holder before
2008 both Byrd and Ruiz were ranked higher, after he came back Wlad was clearly #1

Byrd was clearly #1 when Wlad beat him the second time. I can't justify ranking Mr. Hepatitis Chagaev over Vitali so I'll put him @ #3 when he fought Wlad.

Most everyone rated Sanders #2 behind Vitali. Hadn't Sanders earned this ranking by knocking your hero silly in 2 rounds?

    LOL...

McGrain, you are clearly twisting my words. If Haye wins a box-off with Pulev for the vacant WBC title (an unlikely scenario given that Pulev is in line for the IBF) he would be worthy of the WBC title no question, and Wladimir would have to beat him to get it. However, that is not the situation, as I am not discussing the WBC title, only the TransNational Boxing Ratings. Should losing to Wladimir Klitschko, retiring for a year, and then getting a KO against his 15-3 countryman give Haye the rating of #2 heavyweight in the world, i.e. higher than Povetkin or Pulev?

Oh and I don't think asking Wlad and Haye to box for the vacant WBC title is a brilliant idea, so I do not have a double standard. If I never hear of or see from David Haye again, it will be too soon. I cannot stand his ratio of talking to fighting. Just my personal opinion though. Let his fists do the talking and he can change my mind.

Ali had retired. We're talking about a lineal champion here and Holmes never beat 1/2 whilst ranked 1/2.

You dont keep your belt in retirement otherwise tunney would be champ until he died.

Wlad has beaten about 50 people, check on boxrec if ya want.

I think asking Haye to fight for a vacant WBC after he lost to Klit,
retired and beat his 15-3 countryman is highly inappropriate.
WBC should rather make a 4 man tournament to establish highest
rated contender and that one should fight Wlad for a vacant WBC belt.

I would see Haye vs Povetkin/Adamek, Pulev vs Glazkov, Helenius vs Price,
Boytsov/Arreoala vs Wilder/Jennigs as a preliminary to enter such tournament
and the outcome should be known in one year.

Unfortunately I very much doubt that the WBC will have Wlad fight for the vacant title. Shame.

You cant have it both ways. If they are going to conquer the division as a team then they need to accept the accolades as a team as well. There is no #1

Wlad was excused from facing the #2 Heavyweight in the world as well as, Arreola, Chisora, Solis etc. He is a tag team Co-champion not a lineal King.

Sorry if this is off topic, but didn't Frazier become linear champ when he beat Ellis? Or is there a difference between undisputed champ and linear champ?

I don't mind Wlad gettin recognized as the lineal champ. The guy he ain't fightin is his damn brother. He has a legit excuse for not doin it, so I won't hold it against him. Otherwise, he cleaned out the division of everyone who been willin to face him and unified the other belts.

Stinky gloves, I apologize. I had a rather unfortunate typo. I meant to say that I DON'T think Haye-Wlad 2 for the vacant WBC is a brilliant idea. Sorry about the confusion.
