:( sad day to be a Rahman fan...this is disgusting. Granted he has the frame to carry 250 and look good, but 284? GTFOH

He says he plans on fighting once a month. If that's the case he can lose 30 pounds by constant training over a few month, but this is garbage. I knew he'd be heavy after an 8 month layoff where he was back to like 254.

I am sure he still wins tonight.

Well, the guy he was fighting was even more out of shape and by the looks of it he had almost no experience. His chin was straight up in the air and he leaped in to throw punches like a clown.

If Rahman wants to coast on his thousands of hours of sparring experience and kind of treat boxing like a fun hobby as he gets older, he can weigh 400 lbs if he wants. It's not like he should care if he impresses any idiot on an internet message board. When guys show up for big fights out of shape, it's disgraceful. When they show up for club fights in a shape that still allows them to win easily, then who gives a ****?

Rahman always tends to come back heavy after a long break, I get the feeling he likes to relax rather than be one of these guys that's always hitting the gym, but all the same this is very hefty indeed and by far his heaviest.

I get the feeling Rahman's basically looking to pull the same trick he did in '08, one last time - just keep going, string wins together and hope to get a gift title shot on name recognition.

Don't begrudge him that. But it's pretty obvious.

I think these two set a record for the highest combined weight during a boxing match.

If he fights 5-6 times in a year like he did in 2004/2008 he can drop the weight, but this is insane. 284...I mean, I was SHOCKED. Even 260 would not be that bad.

No, I meant two welterweights. The light welterweight limit is 140 lbs.

    He weighs 284.

284 divided by two is 142.

If two boxers weigh 142 pounds, they are welterweights. That's what welterweight means: over the 140lb limit but under the 147lb limit. Anything between 140 and 147 = welterweight. Anything between 135 and 142 = light welterweight.

Why would he "probably" be broke? He earned 10's of millions of dollars. Unless you have any shred of evidence of all, stupid thing to post. There's also this thing called ego that motivates fighters.

I wonder how far Rahman expects to go at that massive weight. I venture to say the Vinnie Maddelone level will be his peak. LOL
