Look at the competition though. Rahman, if in shape, can beat most of these guys. Rahman accomplished more than anyone else in this. Rogan- no way Rahman loses to this guy! Coe- you think a guy with a 3-2-1 record will beat Rahman? Peter- hasn't fought in years and you know he has questionable work ethic, he may be 20-40 pounds overweight. Butler- who? He is NOT very good, going by his resume. Meehan- hasn't fought in years and Rahman DESTROYED him 10 years ago. Sprott- probably the only guy I would pick to beat Rahman. Rahman has a serious shot. From the pics I've seen so far, he's clearly in shape. Maybe not 230 shape, but for his age I would say he's in good shape. There is no way he is 284. You can tell he's slimmed down and there is stil a month to go.
If they do a weigh-in for everyone the day before the fight, and Rahman is in the best shape of everyone or close to it, my money is on him. Sprott would be a good pick as well as he's done well in these short round fights.
I never read he has bad knees. But regardless, this isn't a tourney full of young, elite guys. If he can punch still and pump that jab, he has a shot.
If Rahman shows in the same shape that he was against Povetkin, he will lose in 1st round of tournament. Hope he'll be better though and I'd like to watch his fight against Sam Peter, despite both are shot nowdays.
Dude, rewatch his last fight.... He is a badly shot fighter, and has no chance of winning this tournament. I understand you're a fan of the guy, but his best days are long behind him. Peter is the most relevant in this, and the most recent to fight at a high level so I'll be picking him to win.....
Rahman did knock Lennox Lewis out cold, not a TKO, but a KO..................Vlad knocked stopped Rahman, but Vlad is not fighting him again. Peter could win also, I think it's between Rahman and Peter, both were stopped by Vlad and Vitali also stopped Peter, but Peter still has power and strong chin. Will he train?
Oh, I agree he's way past it, but most of the guys in this tournament are as well. I would like to see him at 240 before judging how bad he is. Obviously, at 284, he was horrendous. But 30-40 pounds lighter, I wanna see firsthand. And I agree. I think Sprott is the favorite to win this thing. He's won 2 tournaments like this already.
And unless Peter is in some kinda shape, he won't win. He hasn't fought in 3 years. That is against him as well.
The inactivity will definately hurt Peter as he's coming in against real opponents not just cans. Got to see them scales but yes if in shape i'd say Rahman strong chance.
