    OMG I CANT BLIEVE IT

this is just a sign of how far rahman has fallen
he is going down the same route as Mercer

--not that I have anything against him doing it, i just think he'd stick with boxing if he still thought he was significant there.

I hope Rahman does well in MMA, hopefully we'll be seeing some highlight reel KO's.

I disagree. Many boxers would succeed in MMA and vica versa. They are athletes with fight in them. No proper transition has been made. Belfort, Rampage and others would do well in boxing if they dedicated themselves. Similarly boxing has guys who could do well and already have MMA backgrounds i.e. Hatton, Wlad, Vitali, Cintron, Haye etc

Boxing is not one of the worse martial arts to go in with, your getting confused by former pro boxers who are way past it, and lack any real understanding of the sport (mma) and think that they can just go in and box etc....when they get in, the get taken to the ground etc.

Most wrestlers......that go in, know they need to train in standup etc....so in reality boxers well the ones that have gone into MMA are just too lazy and arrogant to learn grappling, wrestling, BJJ, and Take down defence.

black and white............your watching the world through tinted glasses....Its about the individual not the sport.

David Haye has said that when he first sparred with MMA guys.....that he would get taken down at least 7 or 8 times during a sessions and so developed Takedown defence etc and tweaked his style, he then went onto say that he only gets taken down 2 or 3 times out of ten now....and that any boxer who goes into the sport shud not be so arrogant as to not learn other disiciplines.

If you learn boxing/kickboxing/muai thai for stand up and add wrestling, BJJ etc for ground game then you can be a succes in which ever sport you do.

    I'm talking style vs style.

In that case boxing is the worst.

My reply was to a guy who thought Rahman would beat up Lesnar.

The truth is that Lesnar when he was in WWE would beat a prime Rahman in a street fight.

    That is all.

Liddell was a kickboxer directly before getting into MMA. That's deceptive though. He wrestled in high school and was then a division 1 wrestler in college.

Also, for the **** Tim Sylvia gets for being goofy looking and ungraceful he’s from a very good camp and in fights, such as his one with Jeff Monson, has exhibited good submission defence.

The odds of Lesnar scoring a takedown are far greater than the odd's of Rahman landing a punch.

Its alway's "if" he lands a punch is'nt it?

If a pure boxer gets into it with a pure wrestler then most of the time the wrestler win's.

The boxer needs to learn wreslrting big time. Far mpore than the wreslter need's to learn how to box. :yep

Plus Tim's size is a BIG advantage.

People slag off Tim but he's better to watch than Valuev and hong Man Choi etc and a better athlete.

So you think Tai chi, Tae kwon do, gung fu and kung fu, all these styles are better than boxing?Even Karate?:patsch

Out of ALL styles its not the worst for sure. Boxing is the best at punching and no one will argue that. But out of the styles that are actually used in MMA boxing is the most limited one.
Mui Thai, kickboxing, wrestler, bjj, etc. all have advantages over boxing.
