Should Rahman be favored against any of the following men at their respective peaks? Bonavena Quarry Mac Foster Chuvalo Jimmy Ellis Jimmy Young Lyle Shavers Wepner Bobick
He has a stronger jab than anyone on that list. Obviously he wouldn't actually go 10-0 against those men but I don't see a strong favourite over him. Hard nailing down specifics on who he'd beat and lose to but I'd expect a .50 record vs these men.
Bonavena decisions him Quarry by decision Mac Foster ? Whoever landed first Chuvalo by decision Ellis by decision Young by decision...Rahman would have been lucky to land 3 punches Lyle by ko Shavers, like Foster, whoever landed first Rahman by tko Rahman either by ko or tko
Oscar Bonavena w dec. Rahman Jerry Quarrey w dec Rahman Hasim Rahman w tko Mac Foster George Chuvalo w dec Rahman Hasim Rahman w tko Jimmy Ellis (I think Ellis would build a lead, but his chin would let him down) Jimmy Young w dec Hasim Rahman Ron Lyle w ko Rahman Earnie Shavers w ko Rahman Hasim Rahman w tko Wepner Hasim Rahman w ko Duane Bobick
Rahman is being badly underrated here. The only certain picks against him are Young and Bonavena. And I'm honestly surprised that people are picking George frickin' Chuvalo to beat him. He'd moist that bum.
Bonavena beats him with pressure and awkwardness and takes a decision. Beats Quarry on cuts mid rounds. I think he lands first on Mac Foster and stops him. Out fights Chuvalo KO's Jimmy Ellis Jimmy Young out slicks him in a major way. Lyle is a pick em, it could turn into a big sloppy brawl, or a slow pace bout that Rahman can take with his jab. Shavers get's their first and stops him in the first or second round. Rahman busts Wepner up ferociously and stops him in 6. KO's Bobick
Whenever anyone mentions Chuvalo in a h2h, I think of how Ron Lyle's prison friend clowned him in the documentary: https://streamable.com/td5q
Rahman is heavier than all of these guys, and I think that counts for something. I think he'd do pretty well against the list overall.
Rahman gets his glass jaw shattered by just about everybody in the 70s. Heck, I'd give Jimmy Young a shot at taking him out.
