I'm actually going against the odds here and say Rahman brutally knocks out Tim in the mid rounds. Thoughts?
LOL. How many top 20 boxers had Rahman knocked out brutally? Lennox Lewis only, and: a) Lewis basically set himself up for a perfect punch; b) Witherpsoon had very good chin, definitely better than Lewis Other than Lewis, Rahman stopped only 2 top-20 opponents - Corrie Sanders and Kali Meehan. He landed everything and kitchen sink on both of them and they still were stopped standing. The list of the fighters that Rahman couldn't stop is much, much longer. And I mean not a granite chinned guys like Holyfield. I mean the fighters that weren't known for great punch resistance: 1) 40-years-old Trevor Berbick, who at his prime was demolished by Tyson and Mercado. He went the full distance against Rahman 2) Obed Sullivan was demolished by Tua in 51 seconds, was absolutely brutalized by Fres Oquendo and stopped by Michael Grant. Yet, he went the full 12-rounds distance against Hasim Rahman 3) 40-years-old Jesse Ferguson was demolished early by Bowe and Bruno as well as stopped by Carl Williams in his prime, yet Rahman couldn't stop a shot version of Ferguson 4) Oleg Maskaev, who was known for his galss jaw, took a lot of punches from Rahman in both fights and never went down. Maskaev was knocked out seven times, and some of his KO losses were absulutely brutal, yet Rahman wasn't able to put him down even once in 20 total rounds This content is protected 5) 40-years-old Alfred Cole went the distance against 30-years-old Rahman and never was down or hurt in the fight. Years before Corrie Sanders demolished much better version of Cole in 30 seconds, even cruiserweight Juan Carlos Gomes stopped younger and fresher version of Cole in 5 rounds. 6) Monte Barret was never known for having a good chin - Wlad, Haye, Solis knocked him out. Hell, even Valuev and Cliff Couser KO'ed him, yet he went the distance against prime Rahman 7) Taurus Sykes was demolished by Samuel Peter in two rounds and was knocked out by Derek Bryant, Alexander Povetkin and Seth Mitchell. But against Rahman he went the full 10-rounds distance I just can't see Rahman being able to stop Witherspoon. Tim was better in basically every part of the game. Witherspoon by mid-round KO
if we are talking the best of each version in their primes when they were both motivated as best they were, then Witherspoon, he was far more talented than his career turned out from lack of training and lack of motivation, drugs etc. Hasim was more consistent throughout his career but Witherspoon beats him via late knock out or decision if its prime vs prime although Witherspoons prime was pretty short, lol
