Dan Rafael said it was a chance for Toney to get a win and maybe have a shot at fighting Haye for his second Heavyweight fight provided he gets by his first one.
The fact that he's been knocked out at cruiser and put on the canvas by a supermiddle doesn't bode too well for his ability to take a HW punch. However, Rahman has a PROVEN glass jaw at HW, so if I had to call it, I'd say he gets starched before he has the chance to test Haye's shaky whiskers.:yep
He's full of ****...now you have to earn the right to fight Haye...??? If Toney goes and beats up on Audley, KLIT will have already KOd Haye by the time Toney gets to him. James will pass. We've scene this scenario when Toney wanted to fight Tyson, but after Tyson lost it ruined it. Toney is not going to fight the Haye who loses to KLIT...his magical ranking will go away and so will his instant fanbase. Toney is after the gold.
It is on M@x Boxing Steve Kim first mentioned it in his column today and I asked Rafael about it in his ESPN chat today he siad it is not a done deal but very close to being done.
Thanks for the info...says on Boxrec that Audley is fighting some guy who loses everytime he's fought someone you've heard of tomorrow...
I don't think Rahmans heart has been in it since he lost to Lewis. Remember his shocking performance against Ruiz? After that fight pretty much all the experts were saying he should retire and that's got to be 5 years ago now. On the evidence of that you have to ask yourself 'why the **** was VITLAY so scared of him?'
When yopu have two guys with questionable chins and each with KO power, my pick is the guy with the speed. Haye KOs Rahman.
Do you think Earnie Shavers got "knocked out" by Tex Cobb? I think you should replace the word "knocked" with "gassed". And as for the Mock fight, Ali got knocked down by Henry Cooper, proving the point that chins can improve with age. In the Mormeck fight Haye was drastically weight drained, which does effect punch resistance as Nigel Benn proved without doubt. And against the hard hitting Enzo Maccarinelli, Haye took several good punches, including a trademark left hook, and a shot which cut him, yet was never bothered by a punch. Considering he took so few shots, I'm not saying it means much, but if his chin was pure glass, he would have shown some problems taking those punches. Agreed. Haye wouldn't get caught by Rahman, at all. It's ok saying Haye can't take his power punches, but power doesn't mean a thing if the punches don't land. Haye KO 1 or 2.
