The best versions of each. Could Patterson's skill and speed overwhelm Rahman's strength and power?

    I
Yes. And, it is not inconceivable that Patterson could stop Rahman. (Rahman could get lucky and catch Floyd. But, it is not that likely)

It could go either way. Floyd was the better fighter. But Rahman’s power could end it all

That's what I was thinking. But did Patterson have a better chin than Lennox Lewis? He got up multiple times vs Sonny Liston, but Lewis was one shotted by McCall and Rahman.

That's actually a very good point! I don't think their's much between them in terms of durability tbh, but I'd give Lewis the edge. Patterson did have better powers of recovery however.

I think Rahman KO’s Patterson, he seemed to handle Sander’s speed and power well, so I think he can take the speed and power from the much smaller Patterson

Rahman for all his limitations was a good fighter. He beat Lewis, Sanders and probably should have beaten Tua as well. Patterson has the skill to outbox him but again much would depend on weather or not he could take his power

Rahman would knock Patterson out. He was a second rate Liston, which is more than good enough to do the job.

Why do you have to say "much smaller"?

It took a 1st rate Liston to beat Patterson.

Because Patterson was much smaller than Sanders

I think that Floyd Patterson's combination punching, peek a boo defense, taught to him by Cus D Amato, experience and speed carries him to a unanimous decison over Hassim Rahman. Sure Rahman kayoed Lennox Lewis but Floyd has faced very hard hitters like Ingo, Sonny Liston, George Chuvalo, Jerry Quarry, and Oscar Bonavena. Patterson also defeated boxers the likes of Eddie Machen, and stayed in there with Jimmy Ellis.

Floyd busts up Rahmans face and if this is for the title in a 15 round fight Patterson stops him late. Way better fighter.
