But I assume you agree that Rahman hit harder than Schmeling?

In a vacuum and out of context of an actual bout, yes. Absolutely. He was a bull. But this isn't a KO Champ contest where you hit a static target. When Rahman did connect with a well-timed shot, it was impressive. But more often he seemed to be just punching at a target than with a target.

Schmeling wasn't a one punch ko master either. He hit Louis with a ton of right hands before he finally wore him down.If Rahman hit Joe with the right hand he hit Lewis with, that would have been good night!

His rep as a big puncher is largely based on the 1st Louis fight.

He wasn't but he was better fighter. That's why I don't think he would beat Max.

That isn't the question we are being asked.

and you quoted me completely out of context. I never called Max a one punch KO master, I just pointed out that Rahman wasn't that powerful and given Schmeling skills and timing, I'd take him over Rahman as a puncher clearly even if he was a bit less powerful.

I never said you did.I just pointed out Schmeling wasnt a one punch banger either ,it took him 9 rds to get rid of middleweight MickeyWalker, nearly 15 rds to stop Stribling. How many ko's does Max have over class men?
Schmeling has 13 stoppages in 29 fights at heavyweight.
    Rahman 41 out of 62.

So less than anyone Stribling ever fought.

Besides, Max has also KO wins over:

Joe Louis (the only one until Rocky fight)
Johny Risko (who had like only 3 KO losses in 150 fights or something like that)
    Steve Hamas (stopped only once)
    Young Stribling (stopped only once)
    Walter Neulsel
Harry Thomas (nothing special, but stopped only 3 times in his career and never stopped before Max fight)

Schmeling actually had decent KO rate against good competition.

    Really, for me, it's tough.
    They both had solid power.
Maybe a slight edge for Rahman with little confidence.

Decent buy nothing spectacular.Stribling has a string of tank wins many over his chauffeur.
