    The annoying thing is that if N'Dam does well, people are going to say 'oh look, a professional is doing very well at Olympics as expected', when they don't realise that this guy is more suited to ams and was a good amateur.

    I only watched small clips of that fight, underwhelmed by both.

    The US amateurs that look legit pro prospects regardless of how they do in Olympics, are Antonio Vargas, Shakur Stevenson and Ruben Villa (who hasn't qualified for Olympics).

    How I'd love for N'Dam to draw La Cruz, so La Cruz can show him what boxing means.

    Well if nothing else, its good experience for the kid when he does go the traditions pro route.

    He's already been in with a contender level guy before he even makes his debut

    Yeah it sucks for the kid one of the reason why I'm on the fence with pros in Olympic boxing.

    This is going to sound harsh because in the grand scheme of things what Esquivel has done is still quite good compared to most who lace them up....but he's not medal material. N'dam didn't crush his Olympic dream any moreso than other, better ams would've.

    He has beaten Mina at least 3 times after that.
    He beat Ramirez before.
    Russia qualified

    Amateur boxers fight against the top fighters in the world without avoiding anyone and fight more frequently than pros, so they have more nights off than pro boxers, La Cruz has avenged well most of his losses and is a 3 time world champion.

    Howard Davis Jr for example.. became world champion at featherweight but then avoided Angel Herrera Vera completely..

    But he eventually ran into Pernell Whitaker..
