I agree on both counts :good But I'd still love to see the latter fight come off. I wonder how the hell he would slap his way to victory over The Youngstown Warrior. For me it's just too intruiging :think .
There's one particular fight where Calzaghe truly impressed me and it's the one against Kessler ! That was without a doubt the best of his career, the way he adapted and took away Kessler's rythmn !
OK. You made that statistic up. Show me your math! I should have know better with TFFP. Didn't read far enough in. But, let's get real guys. Your resume is only the BEST of who you faced. Kessler IS Joe's resume at this point. Much will depend on what he does, IMHO. Taylor already had Bhop twice before Kelly beat him. Yeah, lots of fights really don't count, but the jury is still out on this.
Oh no, but according to the Cal fanboys, he was a much bigger beast years earlier. Pity I've seen the Reid, Sheika, Woodhall, McIntrye and Brewer fights - and I disagree. In those fights, Cal was no where NEAR being MUCH better than he was in the Kessler fight. In fact, I was put off Cal watching those fights... It's his STYLE - sloppy and all over the place, with little technique. I even thought this in the Lacy fight. YES, it was an absolute domination. But still, it didn't look pretty to me. I find that particular fight hard to watch. Against Kessler, this was not the case. The only times I've truly been impressed with Cal was against Eubank and Kessler.
Brewer is a journeyman; having great fights with journeyman is not a testament to Calzaghe... but if you ACTUALLY think that fight was a GREAT fight, then it's understandable why your a Calzaghe fan. Not to mention the fact that you used the word "ponce"... Only a Brit would think that's a good "payout". And most Cal fan's are Brits
There's a certain amount of truth in that, but you will also notice how the most hated boxers on here are also among the best in the world eg Calzaghe,Mayweather,Pacman,Wlad
Yeah mate look, im not here to get ripped into you for where you come from. Im from Britain, no doubt but thats got **** all 2 do with any of this. Im cool with everybody regardless of nationality. Yes it was a great fight. Brewer for your purposes may be a journeyman now but the fact is he was at the tim e WBA no2, WBC no4 n WBO no1 ranked contender and only recently, as in last fight, was champion of the world. At the time,a big name in Boxing and a top 5 guy in the SMW division. That means that he fought for or defended championship titles in his last five fights prior to the calzaghe fight, that denotes calibure doucebag. And yes it was a great fight; all action for twelve rounds with Calzaghe winning 10 rounds. I called you a ponce because your displaying the traits associated with a ponce. Your ignoring **** to suit your ends; a ponce.
But a lot of Americans aren't. There are a lot of people here that will always hate on any fighter thats not American.
I ain't here to argue with you. And I have absolutely nothing against you... Admittedly, it didn't come across the way you described. It came across as you calling me a "ponce" (which made me laugh, rather than be offended) because I don't like Calzaghe's style, and hence most of Calzaghe's fights (including the Brewer one) - "Get a grip you ponce, the Brewer fight was a great fight". I suppose we should just agree to disagree. Oh, and I got nothing TRULY against the Brits... I do LOVE giving them **** but. A rivalry thing, I suppose - especially when one of them calls me one of their "unusual" (to me) words: ponce, being one of them.
How can you possibly generalize like this? As if Americans are worse than the Brits, or the Brits are worse than the Filipino's? EVERYONE does it the same, yet it's the AMERICANS who cop the most **** for it. I disagree. And I'm NOT a Yank. Thank God ( ). So I'm not sticking up for my nationality here.
