Hate to say it.. but Kessler seems like the type of fighter to ruin his career.

I don't see why you're not getting it. The guy had a fight scheduled on Showtime. He pulled out of that fight and the reason he gave was that he wanted to fight Mundine for his "title". Well, Mundine has no interest in fighting him and it looks like that fight won't happen until later this year at the earliest.

Kessler could've fought Miranda in May then Mundine in the fall or winter. Now, he's fighting no one. And you're crazy if you don't think Showtime will be hesistant to put him on there network in the future. It's not like Kessler is a known commodity in the U.S. He has very little leverage over here.

So tell me, what's better, fighting Miranda in May or fighting nobody?

Mundine doesnt get the adrenaline flowing because MK already beat him, but from MK's pov, its an easy way to a title, he'll prob get paid just as much if not more to beat Mundine and Miranda also isnt going anywhere, once Kessler has the belt, the Miranda fight can be re-made.

Miranda is an easy nights work for Kessler, he'll just have to beat him after he collects the regular wba belt...

The problem with Kessler and many other boxers is that they must respect their promotional teams' decisions. I'm sure Kessler would have loved to fight Miranda on Showtime, it's not directly his fault !

Miranda isn't more dangerous than Calzaghe. That's just stupid talk. Miranda has never stopped a top fighter, all C level at best. His best victory was over Allan Green, who was weight drained and had serious medical conditions going into the fight. Miranda has to be one of the most overrated fighters in the game.

Let's see him stop a top-10-15 SMW first.

I've said this a million times but some people don't get it: Kessler #1 on Ring. Mundine #2 in Ring ratings (check www.thering-online.com if you don't beleive me). If Joe beats Popkins he will vacate the ring title and the winner of Mundine Kessler will be the Ring champion - thats loads better than beating Miranda.

Two problems with your argument. No.1, Calzaghe may very well return to SMW and will retain his ring title. No.2, it looks like Mundine vs. Soliman III is going to happen as planned; meaning Kessler has no assurance of fighting Mundine

Kessler plain screwed up with how he and his team handled the situation. Fair enough, he apparently had an injury from the JC fight. But were 5 months on nowand he still dosen't have a fight lined up!! It's getting ridiculous. Miranda was a DREAM fight for him to make. His first fight stateside against an exciting known fighter that most likely would make Kessler look very good. Instead of taking this route, he wants to go over tried and tested waters just to be a second tier champ. Even by beating Mundine for the WBA, it's still only the regular WBA and he'll have to settle for being essentilly an interim champ until Calzaghe officially moves to 175.

Miranda would beat everyone on Kessler's record bar Joe anyway! So the gap between the two is not that huge.

Who has Miranda beaten for you to come to that conclusion?

In another thread a Kessler supporter was saying Kessler is too banged up to fight more than twice a year. I'm thinking WTF? Maybe he really is afraid of Miranda. What a champion he would be. Fighting at most twice a year looking for guys that can't punch and bring him down to once a year, or less!

Ohh I think you misunderstood the meaning of what I said in the other thread then!

Kessler is a two fight a year fighter yes! He has chonical back problems. So his body cannot handle the strain of serious fight training over longer periods of time!
It has nothing to do with the punishment he may receive in a fight!

No matter how you slice it alienating Showtime and DiBella was a very stupid move. We also have to assume that it will influence Top Rank, Golden Boy, and HBO. Kessler and his team have lost most, if not all, of their credibility in the USA, and that cannot be a good thing.

Calzaghe might have ruined him mentally with that loss,he just seemed so frustrated from the 7th on and even in the post fight interview where he carried himself with tremendous class, but came off to me as seriously down and out......I wish him all the best and hope he gets back up mentally and fights like we all know he is capable of...

I wouldn't go that far, it's not like he got Lacy'd.
