    That's a good way to endanger your athlete. Many boxers are easily influenced and may feel that they are obliged to carry on out of "honour", when in the end it's only a boxing match.

    So you would rather trust Billy based on the perception that he's a lovely geezer, than to pull up the footage to form an opinion of the actual situation? Is that what you're saying, Jim? That's not very military of you.

    In hindsight he was right to do it from a career perspective as Bakole has become a better fighter. There is still something to be said for old school tactics, he improved Martins mental toughness. Probably not acceptable in todays PC society but this is the fight game. Were would he have gone if he had quit on his stool? Martin was still in with a chance of knocking Hunter out and almost did.

    Trainers will use that if they think their fighter has more to give and shouldn't quit. It's the hurt business. The fighter has to be saved from himself at times, we all know that. Golota go stick for quitting, largely because his reputation was as low as it could be in boxing. Throwing low blows on Bowe when Bowe was having success was disgusting stuff. I think the fans would understand and accept it once they saw his injuries. I don't mind any fighter quitting but I think the trainer is in a tough position. I can't really criticise a trainer if he does stop it or if he doesn't. Every situation is unique.
