Superb performance by Bernard tonight. So much for Bernard being an old man.

Yep, amazing. His hand speed surprised me, Pavlik didn't have the speed or the know how to win the fight.

Didn't really expect Hopkins to do so well, but I am not surprised he won. I have been saying for so long that Pavlik is way overrated, has awful footwork which leaves him wide open whenever a shot does not land and is slow and predictable.

Totally hyped based off two wins, Taylor and Miranda and the latter is not proven at the highest level either.

Who knows maybe Kelly DOES beat Joe. The facts remain the maths are poor. Taylor beat Hop twice. Taylor lost to Pavlik twice. Hop just schooled Pavlik but lost to Joe. Does that mean that Taylor is better than Joe or Joe is better than Taylor? Or does it prove that the scoring in Hopkins Calzaghe was farcical?! Either way its immaterial and insignificant.

A Pavlik Calazghe fight is still a great fight considering both guys styles. Both are very open defensively and both like to slug. That means a knockout for either man.

NO ONE expected Hopkins to do that. He certainly is one of the most amazing 43 year olds i have ever seen. But to be frank his victory isnt surprising its the manner of his victory that is surprising. As iv said a zillion times on the General Forum, Pavlik is a crude slugger. Hopkins proved this to be completely true. The problem with the muppets on the GF is they jump on anything thats new. None of them are old enough to remember the times when Kelly was a protected prospect fighting tons of stiffs.

To be fair Bernard went down exactly down the same route for his first twenty odd fights and then happened upon a certain young Roy Jones Jnr who UD'd him. Was Hopkins overhyped or exposed at this point?

Was Tua exposed vs Ike? Both were rising prospects at the time. Jones was on the fast track to being an ATG as he was literally blowing away all competition at 160. Ironically Jones was blessed with an enormous amount of talent. Hop made up for that with SOUND fundamentals and an unreal work ethic. Right now the smart money irrespective of last nights fight would be on Hop over RJJ and his consumate professionalism and in ring style have allowed him to achieve longevity in this sport because of the way he treats his body and his rise in weight. Jones on the other hand went to 200lbs and came back down. That was a catastrophic move at his age. And to think Hop came in 4lbs below at 156 for Oscar?! The man is incredible. He knows his body better than any fighter iv seen in recent years.

His speed didn't really surprise me after watching the Calzaghe fight, until he started tiring he was as fast or faster than Joe who is very quick in his own right.

I don't think he would but I know what you mean, it could be a far easier match up for Pavlik due to styles.
