He has proved he has heart. Kept fighting with two swelling, bleeding eyes and a bloody nose! At age 20 that has to be hard, he isn't used to guys with real skill like Erik Morales. I am sure assuming this young fighter continues he can have a good career in Boxing, sure he won't be a Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthysse, Devon Alexander or a Timothy Bradley. He is only 21. Way before prime so he only gets better from here. And he stepped forward and won 2-3 rounds or so against Morales depending on how you score but soon as Morales got warmed up Cano was pure outclassed. It is the point that he showed a lot of heart.

And of course hats off to El Terrible too.

Much respect. Good job by his corner getting him out of there. He's young and can still become a good fighter.

:thumbsup Word! The kid looked good at times. But the Old Man had too much. He's young, live to fight another day. Good stoppage from corner. Damn, Cano looked like a Vampire from Buffy after the fight!

I liked what I saw out of the kid last night. Along with the heart and dealing with the horrendous cuts, I thought he handled the pressure of dealing with the big stage and huge name opponent for the first time well. He did well enough that there's enough he can legitimately learn from the fight...not all losses are like that.

he looked like a good boxer he has a useful jab plus hes 6 foot which could help him control fights and he will never fight a guy like morales again what iv noticed is that the new boys in boxing do not do the faints and tricks that the likes of morales and marquez and older generations do i truly think he can do something decent in his career....maybe even move up in weight might make him physichally stronger

but may i just say....morales has proved he can still punch which has given me even more respect to the likes of barrera and pacquiao than i already had

I wish all boxers behaved like those two in the ring. They fought right and persisted during adversity. I would like to see more of Cano in the short future.

No you may not! That kid had no business in the ring for a 'World Championship'. Had he won the paperbelt, should he be really consider a champ? It's easy to think a boxer is great when the opposition is inexperienced.

Morales did not fight at the caliber he did against Maidana. Matthysse would've destroyed him in the ring if he had acted like that.

but you cannot say he still dosnt have punchign power remember the maidana fight he was the one hurting maidana
also morales has always been a fighter that performs at his opponents level i dont know why but he always has

Well he really didn't need to. He didn't have to push himself, he would have with Matthysse. Maybe or Maybe not defeat him.

How long did this kid have to train for the fight?

Cano has a future. He's only 21 and will live to fight another day.

Not to mention he took this fight on short notice against a very good and experienced opponent. Mad props.

Yeah..i liked this guy. He has a lot of heart and has some skills, with some experience he can be a realy tough fighter for almost anyone at this weight.
Note: I feel bad for his face at the end of the fight, that cut was HORRIBLE!.

exactly you cant blame morales it wasnt like he took the easy option straight up this kid was a step in morales was prepared for matthysse it may even explain why he was so laid back if he had prepared for that kind of fighter and that kind of fight which would of been no doubt a 12 round slugfest
