Tell someone who gives a **** already! I'm not sure what's more tired, Hatton's talking about himself in the third person or your bollocks incessant twisting of every word he says! Stupud me thought the obsession had died down a bit obviously not. I don't really see anything uneasonable in the content of that interview and if the worst you can say for a guy is he talks about his in-ring persona in the third person then I don't think it exactly makes the guy the second coming of Osama Bin Laden do you?

Come off it. Witter doesn't have two fans to rub together! He is simply a convenient stick to beat Hatton with - if it wasn't him it would be someone else. When the irrational hatred is inbuilt, people look to twist the facts to suit their warped prejudices rather than vice-versa. I can understand if people find talking about yourself in the third person a little irritating (the obvious answer is don't watch/read the interviews if if upsets you that badly), but to base a two-year internet hate campaign on it shows the mentality of some people!

what the **** is the problem of some of you lot. who cares how the guy speaks ? slagging ricky hatton off for the sake of slagging off. ricky hatton .
boxers and sportsmen speak like that all the time. who cares anyway.if you don't like him, don't watch the fight

You would think it would be that simple wouldn't you? However, their are some people whose own lives are so inadequate that they have to dedicate them to the waging of a two year internet hate campaign against the public persona of a guy they have never met and know little about but whom very few who've ever met him have a bad word to say about. Very sad but horses for courses!

I'm no fan of Ricky Hatton, hate his hit-and-hold style of boxing.

But I don't see much wrong with that article. As has been mentioned before there are plenty of other boxers (sports stars in general) who speak in the third person; its almost a requirement for their life's occupation.:deal

And they are all wankers for doing so.

When have you ever felt the need to speak in the third person? Wouldn't you feel like a right tosser? He'll carry on telling us how hes one of the lads though.

Even if he said Mayweather is "possibly" the greatest of all-time he's an idiot thats trying to make himself look better for looking stupid falling into that ring post. Only the football fans that follow him fall for that.

don't know where this hatred of hatton comes from. it wouldn't be cos he's so successful would it?
i havent seen anything that suggests he's changed from one of the lads at all. people change over time , maybe he's grown up a bit but generally , and this may be controversial , i think he's alright .

Perish the thought! I mean its not like the British sports fan hates a winner is it? Hence why Man United and Chelsea are the two most hated football clubs in the country, hence why there's so much garbage spouted about Lewis Hamilton and Andy Murray and hence why there was so much indifference to Lennox Lewis for so long while everyone worshipped big loveable Frank!

exactly. what a weird country we live in.
before he got rich he was a loveable lad, boy next door type. then he gets rich, doesn't change at all as far as i can see but is now the biggest cnut in british sport, forgot his roots, pretends to be one of the lads, and is shite and always was.

    weird.

It's funny...some weeks ago, we all liked to pretend the British forum was a cut above the General forum, and then we had threads like the Haye + Booth thread and then this one...and plenty of small-minded petty posts in other threads as well. I don't think we're better than the General forum lot at all, anymore...time for us to raise our game or get off our high horse, it seems.

    It is simple.

Talking in the third person is exceptionally annoying.

Even more so, when the person doing it then tries (too hard IMO) to convince people that he is normal - in his own words 'a man of the people'.

    Why the talk of Cortez?
