I dont really understand why Cortez gets so much **** over that fight, sure he got some things wrong in the bout being, that he sould have warned Mayweather for ducking below the belt, and he should hvae seen Mayweather maniuplating his defense when he used his elbows points which Hatton doesn't point out cause he is just as dirty probably but I really think Hatton is deluded for the points he makes; those being; * Cortez was pissed off that they dissed his national anthem, last time I checked he was Puerto Rican. * Being deducted a point even though he didn't hit him, but Hatton was constantly hitting Mayweather behind the head he got a couple of verbal warnings in the 1st round for doing it and he wouldn't listen. * Corttez wouldn't let him fight his fight on the inside, pff when they were fighting inside he was getting dominated, but most of the times they were clinching every 10 seconds in the first half of the fight, last time I checkec clinching wasn't allowed If Hatton ants any remote chance of vicotry he needs a British ref in charge some one like Micky Vann who wont even deduct a point if you keep on smacking your opponent even when he is down, Cortez was pretty damn leniant in the clinching in the Castillo bout, most refs across the pond are going to penalise Hatton tactics.
Cortez deserved criticism for that fight, I thought he was too quick to break the two apart, especially in the early going, but it wasn't that bad. Cortez did a worse job in other fights, like when he bent over backwards to admonish Robert Allen in the 3rd bout with B-Hop, after B-Hop threatened to pull out. Or when he stood there and almost let Ike Quartey kill Carlos Bojorquez, but then finally decides to stop it with a minute left. Or when he almost let Paul Williams kill poor Santos Pakay, before finally stopping it. Then Cortez does this and finally people say "Cortez is so bad!" People crying about "this is one of the worst ref jobs ever" just shows how dumb they are.
Hatton got beat at his on game. Just be a man a accept the lose. If it went 12 rounds and the score card were ass wide as they were then maybe. But he was KOed
End of the day, he got knocked down into another dimension, and it wasn't Cortez who did it to him either. Just shows how many ref jobs they've seen in their entire life! Most didn't even know that Cortez was reffing Hatton against Castillo.
i thought it was a terrible performance, and if i was hatton i would have done a lot more complaining
Cortez didnt do a very good job. Hatton did an even worse job. He should be criticising himself first, his trainer second and Cortez third.
last time i checked, cortez didn't ktfo hatton. so it wouldn't have mattered if there was another referee. same result. all the time. i'm quite surprised that hatton hasn't complained that the turnbuckle was too hard.
yeah but did you check the relationship puerto rico has with the US? it's basically another US state. it was more the case of pbf turning his back on hatton when punches were being thrown, that's not hatton's fault.
