That's what i don't like with mayweather snr. after the loss, all of a sudden he blames it on hatton? Didn't he realize that what hatton failed to do in the ring was also his failure as a trainer? hell, he should blame himself for not being able to make hatton follow whatever game plan he had in mind. that's what he's there for in the first place. As for the hitman, he was already a great fighter even before mayweather joined him. he had a great career. future hall of famer, if i may say..
Hatton doesn't need to retire. It's not like he's JC Chavez and is starting to take ten round beatdowns over and over or Meldrick Talylor where he's slurring his speach. He should work a bit on his defense knowing full well that it won't really get that much better and stick to exciting fights against guys who aren't top of the food chain pound for pound guys. He'll never be the best fighter in the world; so what? There can only ever be one of those guys at a time, so he's in good company. He's not nearly as non-competitive as he looked the other night, he's just not as good as and has the worst possible style for Pacman. No less, no more.
Beating a fast, hard hitting southpaw is very difficult. You need a strong jab, some reach, and heavy left hooks & right hands...plus you have to back the Leftie up. Hatton did his best.
Floyd Mayweather Snr is just doing the same thing as he has always done. Telling it like it is. Ricky ignored everything they worked on in the gym, and he got knocked out as a result of his own negligence, not because of a poor strategy employed by Snr.
