I scored both fights for Hatton and Floyd, go figure. 114-113 Hatton over Collazo (knockdown in first round won him the fight) 115-112 Floyd over Castillo, after point deductions (have this as the most over-rated Robbery up there with Jones-Tarver 1... Suggest people who score it for Castillo watch a non-HBO version, or put the TV on mute)
I scored Collazo - Hatton pretty even and wasn't upset with the decision either wya. A draw would've been a fair result. However, I think Castillo clearly won against Floyd, but he lost badly in the rematch. Think of it what you will. Even Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson got beat by lesser fighters. If Duran can beat Leonard, if La Motta can beat Robinson, if Mayorga can beat, well, anyone, then Castillo can beat Floyd, and so can Hatton.
While Hatton's fight w/Collazo WAS close, I found the rounds pretty easy to score: 6 apiece, with the extra pt for the kd shading the fight in Hatton's favor. Collazo WOULD'VE/SHOULD'VE/COULD'VE won that fight, he just didn't go for it, and got outworked. I think he had RH in big trouble, in the later rounds, but didn't finish him off. Now, the more controversial of PBF's "losses", in my book, is the DLH fight--even moreso than the JLC contest, I just DID NOT see PBF winning more than 5 rounds, TOPS! How he got this sd is still beyond me, and really turned me off to boxing for a while--even today, I'm still not as into boxing as I used to be. What was a REAL JOKE was Cory Spinks fighting a VERY similar fight (I thought he fought JT better than PBF fought DLH) w/JT, not long afterwards, and LOSING!
Interesting, I thought that was clear win for Floyd. If Floyd won no more than 5 rounds tops, then what 7 rounds did Oscar definately win?
I didn't keep my scorecard, from that night, but remember clearly having it 8-4 for DLH, though a round, or two, were about even; worst-case scenario, to me, was a draw. Let's be honest, here: PBF didn't do very much in that fight, except lean on the ropes, with his hands up. Granted, DLH could've fought a better fight, and didn't utilize his jab NEARLY enough, but c'mon, how does PBF win that fight going backwards w/o doing any damage to DLH? There's NO WAY anyone can tell me PBF won 7+ rounds, in that fight! I'm not a PBF 'hater', and think that he puts on a bad-guy act to sell fights; I, actually, am entertained by it! Some outrageous **** comes out of that mofo's gob! Also, I'm not a DLH groupie, either--I thought he was given a gift against Sturm (I had Sturm winning 9-3 rds.), and his KO loss against Hopkins was kind of shady (esp. considering they'd already decided to become business partners); DLH's problem was that he made it big TOO soon, and hasn't been 100% committed to boxing for a LONG time. Where's the motivation, when you KNOW you're gonna bank $10 MIL (and ALREADY own the bank!) for fighting Joe Schmoe--EVERY fight, no matter if you win or lose?
