If you don't like/ rate him fair enough, but to say he wasn't world class is not understanding what world class means. Collazo, Urango, Malinaggi, Zoo were all world class, Hatton fought and, despite BS arguments to contrary, beat them.

World class isn't defined by being able to beat the likes of Pac and Mayweather, its just means to be amongst the best in the world in your weight class, Hatton was and was generally ranked number one for a number of years by most fair minded boxing experts.

 

Hatton ducked Kelson Pinto..... So did Witter.

You won't find a boxer who perhaps could have fought this or that, however, when it comes to Hatton he got in there with two prime ATG fighters putting his undefeated record on the line, fought a HOF fighter too and beat him. There are far worse culprits out there when it comes to avoiding fighters and not getting in there with the very best of his generation.

Fight any opposition?...Exept Junior Witter obviously who he refused to fight under ANY circumstances at ANY stage of his career.

Only lost to the best?? Thats because he only fought 2 good fighters in their prime and they destroyed him.

corley lost his title to judah in double quick time.

then judah went up in weight cos he got handed the spinks title fight by king.

 

all 3 judges gave him the fight.

as did british & american tv.

Well, he was right there to be fair in the end. Witters end to his career was pretty dire.

There's no question that they probably should have met in some purist boxing world that doesn't exist, but you can't rip into Hatton's career then make out Witter to be some sort of boxing god.

 

How about this take on Sugar Ray Leonards welterweight career, generally considered one of the best short title reigns in boxing history?

He won his welterweight title fighting an unmotivated Benitiez who had only trained for 7 days before the fight, lost his title to an old lightweight Duran, won it back under controversial circumstances and then unified against Hearns with a lucky punch while about to lose on points.

I between those fights were a collection of old men and clubfighters like Green, Price and Bonds.

Hatton was madatory for Corleys title a long time before Corley lost to Judah. Corley even said I hope he signs and Witter questioned Hatton as to why he hadnt signed.
Harris and Mitchell. Not surprised they got offered, but lets remember Harris wasnt offered till he lost, Hatton wasnt interested before and Mitchell hadnt looked good for a while and had some disputed victories at this time.
A good thing to remember was when Tsyzu beat Tackie, FW said he could make the fight but it wouldnt sell due to Tackie losing to Tsyzu, but after Tackie was knocked down and lost to Mitchell it was then OK to make the fight
