I keep hearing from Hatton fans that Hatton is a 140 fight, god forbid he ever steps up to 147 again and that its common knowledge that he is light welter and thats where he is staying. (says alot about a fighter when he cannot step up 7 lbs)

Anyways, so its seems wrong for me to mention Cotto, Margo, Williams and any other welterweight as a possible opponent for Hatton next BUT in the same sentence its ok for Hatton to fight Mayweather in a rematch or Oscar. Does anyone see a problem here???
Anyone giving the go ahead for Hatton to fight either PBF or Oscar must know that either fight would be at a higher weight than 140.

Oscar has not weighed in 140 for 11 years and wont if a fight is made between him and Hatton.

So iv pissed off that Hattons people and Hatton himself say he is a 140 lb fighter but yet woud fight for $$$$ basically at 147 against Oscar/PBF.
Why not fight Cotto (new enough to the 147 division), Cintron, Williams or Berto...god forbid i mention Margo, so why not?:huh

Your either in it for legacy or money, dont say one thing and do another.

Educated boxing fans know why Hatton will not move up the 7lbs which would make his life alot easier and he could still weigh in on fight night an animal 156 lbs for example. But theres no point in getting too in dept as to why he wont move up, real fans know why, even Hattons real fans.....:good
sure hes a 140 fighter, but maybe 147 if the price is right:patsch

    What a joke ...

Can ANYONE defend Hatton here, honestly?

Hasn't De La Hoya said he'll come down to 140. Personally I don't think he has a chance but that's what I hear and i'm sure PBF can get to 140.

No chance of De La Hoya getting down to 140 now, 147 would be a stretch

PBF would struggle now id say also but maybe

Yes, of course. You say why not fight Cotto, but why would he fight Cotto over Oscar or Pac? Would you? Would anyone? I certainly would not with the money he would be making and those fights would do more for his legacy anyway, less sensible match up or not. Fighters are in it for themselves and they're the ones risking their lives so why not just appreciate that. I would be more excited to see these fights anyway and so will most people.

You would be more excited in seeing Oscar v hatton than Cotto v Hatton?

Oscar v Hatton doesnt appeal to anyone, Pacman v Hatton maybe yes

Yes I would, I'm not saying the actual fight would be more exciting but it would be a huge global event and Hatton would be the underdog against a future HOF'er. Against Cotto he would just be in a very dangerous fight against someone who isn't even the number 1 in his division and not as big of a name so what's the point. What is wrong with a fighter taking the fight for the most money and against the bigger name when there is no other outstanding opponent? All fighters do it, and you would be mad not to.

Let's list some available opponents for Hatton.

    Pacquiao
    De La Hoya
    Cotto
    Torres
    Witter
    Bradley

In ten years time, who is gsoing to remember Torres, Bradley or Witter?
He should fight Pacquiao for both legacy and money.

Hatton has nothing for the elite welters.

Hatton and Pac have to decide who potentially rules 140 and under (JM Marquez).

i am a hatton fan, and this is how it is. hatton is willing to move up for big fights at 147 floyd rematch, odlh, pac.

but against real legit welters such as williams, marg and cotto he and his fans knw he has no chance, hatton is the best at 140 and under, but lets be honest there are not enough big fights down there?

hatton is carefully picking the big fights that are big, but still winnable, even though personally i think ODLH wins handily over hatton.

hatton is a good 140 fighter, not great. but there is noone great at 140 downwards. hatton will rule 140 for a few more years, but thats not anything to shout about:good

Are you serious here Healy? I know you've never stepped into the ring, but those pounds can make a difference especially at the elite level. If you outclass someone it doesn't matter much, but all other things being equal, it's a killer.

Why do all great fighters move up in weight so?

I actually have stepped in a ring of sort, i got KO'ed when i weighed 8 stone against my cousin who was 11 stone and boxing at the time in his back yard.....and i was allowed the right glove while he had the left.
