Seems to be the in thing right now. Like kick a man while hes down. I know he makes stupid comments, we all do. I bet there's posts you regret making the difference is Hattons got a camera stuck in his face every time he opens his mouth. Saying he was beating Pacquiao in the second round was ridiculous but I think he was just trying to restore some of his pride, I found it a bit sad really rather than arrogant. I cant believe some British fighters get a pass for bobbing and weaving their way to a great record on paper but with no real substance, dont get me wrong those guys are good fighters but you cant help wondering what might have been and thats their fault. We know how good Hatton became and thats because he was man enough to fight the best, two ATGs in their prime, I know he built up a record against bums like others but when it came time to man up he did it albeit with disastrous consequences although it wasnt all bad, he had some satisfying wins as well. I dont want an argument, I just want to say I respect Ricky Hatton. Your opinion is welcome as always.

I think Hatton was just getting confused between doing much better in the 2nd round and winning it.

But then, he had taken a lot of shots at this point so he can be excused for being a little confused.

I agree. Hatton fought the best, two ATG's. He got wiped out in embarrassing fashion both times, against Mayweather he was hilariously bad and against Pac he got destroyed.

I am not bashing Hatton, I just agree with what Cotto said before the Pac fight.

I was gonna do a thread very similiar to this when I finished work tonight.

I like Hatton and always have. Yes he makes daft comments but I think like you said he's just trying to give himself a little bit of an ego-boost. He's a gent and has been the few times i've met him too. He tried his best and challenged himself against the very best. He could have easily avoided Floyd and he could have gone along the lines of the Wlad and screwd manny over in a deal or better yet forced him to prove himself at 140 before fighting him. But he didn't.

The amount of stick he gets on this place is unbelievable. I would genuinely like to see him face Alexander in the MEN. It's a very 'winnable' fight for him which would allow him to bow out on 2 high notes. Winning back a title infront of his loyal fans and beating the guy would beat Witter last would be a sweet touch too.

I know some people arent ever gonna change their mind regarding Hatton which is why I said I wanted no argument as it would lead nowhere. Nice to see some people agree. Cant see it lasting though.

I dont mind him. I respect what he's done but equally laugh at some of the shite he spouts.

A good fighter, a nice fella but sometimes annoying.

    :good

Cant say I'm as comfortable about a comeback though. I hope he proves me wrong but I'd like to see him stay retired I think.

I don't think he was that bad against Mayweather, to be honest. The ref didn't help and he lost his rag. Unravelled at the end and that might have happened whatever.

The best/worst of spin I've ever heard was from Ray Hatton after the Pac demolition...re Ricky, "He hasn't got a mark on him."

I've been reliably informed by a Team Hatton insider that he will fight again and I can completely understand the temptation to have one last hurrah against a beatable opponent in Manchester - someone like Steve Forbes who they can talk up a bit.

Its true, I'm very surprised at how much people diss Ricky on here, when outside of this forum, he's so loved. Obviously the firty fousand fans who went ovah ta vegas durin the wecession are not members of ESB. I like him.

sometimes I think people make comments just to be different and not follow the crowd.

I've been pretty consistently Hatton Bashing since 2006.

Accuse me of villainy, but not bandwagoning. :yep
