As an American, let me say that I think Hatton at 140 is a tremendous presence within the sport. I think many of us have been frustrated by the constant holding and, especially, Hatton-mania that invaded the U.S. during 2007, but there's no question the guy is one of the few bright lights in a weak division.

Over here, Ricky is taking far too much abuse for his defeat to Mayweather. He fought with more fury than De La Hoya did, and he didn't disgrace himself as did Judah.

Having said all that, I find his everyman personal to be fraudulent. If you spend all your time insisting how down to earth you are, and how many fans you have, your words begin to lose their meaning.

At this point, Ricky is entitled to a so-so defense at home, sure; after that, it's Witter or bust.

And there's only so much I can admire any athlete for abusing his body the way he does between every fight. He's going to learn the hard way, if he isn't careful.

I have never seen such fervent hate for a boxer since the 'quiet man' last fought. I enjoy Hatton fighting but I suppose it's horses for courses.

If some people on here show such passion towards a boxer they liked (instead of the hate they show toward Hatton), they'd go up in my estimation.

unfortunately Hatton is one of the many Phoneys in boxing. His boxing ability and personality were truely found out after the Mayweather fight. I have lost respect for Hatton for being such a bitter *****. Does he truely believe he can beat Mayweather in a rematch?? He will get beaten up even worse and put in hospital. He should just admit that Mayweather is a legend and was and is the better fighter. He dont want to fight Witter cos Witter will beat his ass, he is now there for the picking after he got he ass handed to him by Mayweather. Hatton is making himeself look like soom fat little punk, why dont he get focused and get in to shape. Just dont take the lad seriously anymore.

 

i laugh when hatton criticising the referee is brought up about hatton being a bad loser.

compare that to some of the stuff lovemore n'dou come out with. least hatton also accepted mayweather was the better man. but n'dou completely bashed the referee and gave no credit to malignaggi.

u lot need to accept that HBO show hatton's fight now. witter will have to box on there and prove his worth. if he can't impress then he won't get the call.
