I thought it was a bit premature for Buddy to throw the towel. But then again, Paulie was just getting brutalized out there that I didn't really have a problem with it.

It was one-sided. And Ricky did indeed showed improvements in his game under Floyd Sr. I was very impressed by him.

As I said before, Paulie's low punching power is what's gonna hurt him in this fight and it showed. Paulie did nothing that discouraged Hatton at all. The best punch that Paulie connected was a flush right hook to Hatton in the 4th or 5th, and it didn't affect Hatton one bit.

That's one of the main reason(aside from the improvements) why Paulie got beat up bad. Hatton was still getting to him all throughout the fight and landing some beautiful bombs(just as I expected) and there was nothing Paulie could do. I never doubted Hatton in this fight at all. Paulie was clearly there for the taking and Hatton proved that by not only beating him convincingly, but by also taking the fight away from Paulie.

Props to Paulie though at the end of the fight. He was clearly dissapointed by the stoppage but was still classy enough to admit his loss and gave full credit to Ricky Hatton. The man just wanted to prove that he's better than being stopped, thats all.

Anyway, GREAT win for Ricky Hatton!

i gotta watch the full fight to see how bad of a beating paulie was taking. but i believe you... i mean, its common sense that if paulie was getting beat down and his only chance of winning was by KO (which wouldnt happen) then it was the right call.

my only beef would be that its a world title fight & the biggest fight of paulies life. the only person that should be stopping the fight is the ref.

so did buddy really make the right decision ? -based on the clip i posted on another thread -NO he didnt.

did i see any chance of ricky stopping him ? -based on the clip i posted on another thread -YES. granted paulie was still bouncing around like he had energy but he was holding on to ricky and not letting go rite away. if a stoppage were to happen it would have been in the 12th.

but what the fu*k do i know..? i watched 1 minute of the 11th round :nut

Paulie looked like he was holding for dear life most of the fight. That 2nd round beating he took really shook him and he never seemed to recover from it. And yes I also think that, had the fight not been stopped, Paulie would've gone down or stopped.
