That's bull. Reducing Holyfield's obvious fighting talent down to headbutting is pure ******ation.

Most athletes give the benefit of the doubt to anyone they've hit low (especially when the slow motion vid makes it absolutely definitive that he was struck LOW) and don't try to gauge whether it hurt or not.

Unless you're a ****ing cup how the hell can anyone judge that? Athletes don't usually begrudge other athletes on that **** - biased fans always seem to however.

A classic example is Wards hugging of miranda all night.

This was seen as ring generalship by most americans on the this site.

I noticed that, too. It's amazing how much **** guys like Hatton, Ruiz, and Wlad take for clinching and how other people just get a free pass for it.

I wasn't so much pissed by the holding, as in many respects it's a legitimate tactic to neutralize your opponent, as the blatant elbow that Ward held in Miranda's face and the numerous elbows Ward hit Miranda with as well. Typically that deserves a warning at the very least.

Who,the same Americans that call Bernard "Borenard", and take him,Holyfield and Tyson to task for their dirty tactics? And the same Americans that openly admit that Lewis was robbed against Holyfield in their first fight?Stop.Holding is an excepted part of boxing. However,Ricky Hatton always held in order to launch his assault, which meant hitting while holding.Always.Hitting while holding is illegal.Ricky was a very dirty fighter.Accept it and admit it and move on.Hopkins,Tyson and Holyfield were all dirty fighters in some form or another. But they were skillful and didn't use dirty tactics to introduce their main method of attack as did Ricky.Ruiz is American and is rightfully constantly taken to task for his filth and boring tactics.Nobody that I know of says he gave Holyfield a boxing lesson.

Hopkins and Holyfield frequently get criticized for their tactics.

People often bring up the "Evan Fields" thing and I've heard more than a couple people say they have little sympathy for him getting a piece of his ear bitten off.

As for Hopkins, well whenever a topic of "Dirtiest Fighters" is started, he's always one of the most mentioned fighters.

Hell, there was a thread here bumped not too long ago stating "Hopkins Disgraced the Sport".
