I saw that fight twice. I thought Collazo won the first time and Hatton the second. The second time I watched it without sound. I am going to be honest here, I think it was close. And Hatton didn't look impressive, like in the Castillo fight. Who won?
Its tough ... Collazo emerged later on in the fight ... but Hatton's work rate plus the knock down sealed it for Hatton. I think he wouldve had to drop Hatton to get the draw and multiple knock downs for the decision. on the other hand ... Collazo shouldve gotten the benefit of doubt because he was the champion ...
IMO, the "SLIP" ruled on Hatton in the 12th should have been a KD, even the look on Hatton's face (half hanging out the ropes with eyes still rolling) as he looks back in at the ref can't believe it was ruled slip, IMO. Therefore, DRAW.
Weird fight, you could conceivably score it to Hatton under the 10 point must sytem, but as 'a fight' it was a one- sided ass kicking; Collazo wrecked his ****.
Thats a myth, the only advantage the champ should have when the bell rings is that he keeps his belt if the fight is drawn. Otherwise the two fighters should be treated and scored the same.
I think that Collazo shouldve gotten the nod because he was champion ... Hatton did give away some cruicial rounds ... from the 6th on ... Collazo took over the fight ... I do remember him letting Hatton off the hook and not finishing him ... Hatton didn't know how to hold and clinch at that moment ... Collazo shouldve finished him with a couple more left hands.
Judges decide who won each round as it ahppens then add them up at the end. Thats the way it is, who is a champion and who isnt shouldnt affect that. I agree though that hattons scoring of the first rd KD and Collazos NOT in the 12th made the difference :good
