If I'm not mistaken, the sparring partner Hatton speaks of who knocked him down was Lara. Lara would have thoroughly beaten Hatton regardless of his training camp and his emotional state.

Pac got very lucky facing the version of Hatton he did.

 

Overtraining would have hurt Hatton in a long 12 round fight. Pac made sure Ricky wouldn't have to feel the effects of overtraining.
