If you'd step off the "oppressed Brit" soapbox for a second, you might notice that most of the "anti-Hatton" threads are being generated by your underwhelmed countrymen.

youre right, especially since it even came from Hatton himself and his camp.

Hatton was clearly disappointed after the fight and i know you heard Graham yell at Hatton to NOT go for a knockout in the 12th. i think its safe to assume that he told him that because of the risk of himself being KO'd.

it shouldnt be hard for people to understand that other people's view of Hatton yesterday was unimpressive for a tune up fight.

The problem is Hatton should have been either allowed to fall in the tenth, or make a strong comeback the way he did the eighth. That ref call marred an otherwise great fight.

With regards to European fighters, you wouldn't know what 'fair and balanced' criticism was if it punched you in the chops.:!:

Probably not the place for a pro-Calazghe rant but... the fight against hopkins was a clash of two styles that meant for a crap fight. hopkins was never going to get knocked out. shot he may have been but he is still a master boxer who is canny enough to get through a fight with a very defensive style, and remain too dangerous on the counter for even the best fighters to take too many risks against him. Calzaghe did enough, which was all hopkins was ever going to let him do.

As for Hatton.... i agree, not an amazing boxer but as a fighter he can entertain. certainly not worthy of the mindless abuse that some people heap on him.

Hatton, as Iv'e said over and over, is a good but far from great fighter. He was always overrated and expectations levels too high from some zealots.

For the record, I respect Hatton a great deal as a fighter and think he's been a class representive at 140. He's also been good for the sport, in and outside the ring.

However, some annoyance can be expected due to this:

    1) "Hatton is a PfP fighter and will prove it by beating Mayweather, who isn't tough enough to handle him. Yeah, he looked sluggish against Urango, but how about that Castillo knockout!!!"

    2) "Look, let's be honest here. If Hatton had had ANY other ref besides Cortez, he probably would have beaten Mayweather. Cortez didn't let Ricky fight his fight."

    3) "I know Hatton got stunned and busted up a little by Lazcano, but the kid was coming off a devastating KO defeat and always has been a contact fighter. He won clearly, and at least he's entertaining."

Note the shift in perspective, the sudden assertion that everyone should appreciate Hatton for being what he is. Of course, Hatton is appreciated for what he is, which is exactly what the non-zealots said from the beginning, only to be ridiculed by those who insisted he's a dominant, PfP fighter.

And as others have referenced, his most vocal critics at ESB have been domestic. Just check out the British forum.

    It's not even that.
If a big fighter (regardless of who he is) does not have a blowever win than he's in decline and/or overrated.

If a big fighter has a blowover fight than he is fighting bums and even if he beats a champion the champion was a C level fighter who was exposed by an at most B level fighter.

I don't really understand how people need to attack a fighter after a win.
